Dishes and Dinner is a professional home/ office cleaning and catering company servicing the Carolinas. The company was created by Frances Bolinger in 2009. Frances graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Horticultural Science and Landscape Design. After many years of designing residential landscapes, pools, and patios Frances decided to drop the shovel and pick up a broom! While working and going to school in the evenings Frances realized that when a homeowner needs help with cleaning their house that is just the beginning of his/her list! Basic cleaning is not the only thing that occupies our free time. It's the laundry, grocery shopping, and cooking that tend to consume our weekends as well! Dishes and Dinner is a company that focuses on all of life's chores. . .not just the basic cleaning.

The cleaning team was great. The house looks and smells amazing. They were punctual, very nice and did a wonderful job. I see why the reviews were so good and I'm glad I chose to use them. We will absolutely choose this service again.

I used them a year ago and they came out once a week. I had new people each time and so, things were done differently each time. We would give them instructions and the new people would not know. The house was always clean so, they did a good job. They would come the same day but, I never knew what time they would be here.

We're very pleased with them. Have had 2 or 3 different crews in that time, but that has not been a problem. Owner seems to communicate well to a new crew what needs to be done. Owner has also been very responsive when I've asked for something special to be done.

The ladies (usually 2 come each time) arrive on time and get straight to work. They dust and vacuum bedrooms, clean everything in the bathrooms, dust and vacuum living areas, and usually finish in the kitchen. Everything in there gets wiped down, and then they sweep and mop the floor. Everything looks & smells great when they are done!

We have been using Dishes and Dinner since 2012 and have been very pleased with their services. I am extremely picky when it comes to the cleanings, and Frances and her team have addressed each and every issue we have had. We have dark hardwood floors, and Frances personally came to help make them shine beautifully. If I see something that I would like them to pay particular attention to, I just leave a note, and they take special care with that request.
I highly recommend Dishes and Dinner. The customer service is outstanding.

This did not go well.
Two woman came the first time. One cleaned while the other one sort of cleaned. One of them took out the trash but didn't bother cleaning the pile of debris under the trash can in the cabinet.
The second time they came, they stayed a half an hour and barely cleaned anything - not even the tub, which is particularly difficult for my mom. She told them not to come back.
Apparently, "cleaning is only a sideline for this provider.

"This is the first time we are hearing from Mrs. [member name removed]. All of our interactions have been with Mrs. [member name removed]. She was the one that called us and hired us. Mrs. [member name removed] never contacted us. Mrs. [member name removed] was very pleasant and I personally spoke to her on several occasions. We called her after the first cleaning to follow up with her and Mrs. [member name removed] told us the girls did a great job. After the second cleaning Mrs. [member name removed] told us she would no longer need our services because she had healed from her procedure and would be able to clean again. We never received any negative feedback from Mrs. [member name removed] and had no contact from Mrs. [member name removed]. Our relationship was with Mrs. [member name removed] only and she was happy with our service. I feel that this has become an issue with Angie's List. Members are allowing other people to use their membership and as a result, some businesses are receiving feedback from people they have never heard of. It's a frustrating fact for business owners. We loved working for Mrs. [member name removed] and had a great relationship with her. She called us, she paid us, and we worked for her, yet somehow someone else is commenting on our work."

Through assessment of my needs by a person named Holli...very professional. ..never had that experience with a housekeeping service before. She explained in detail what would be done and when. Very impressive.

The first time the girls cleaned the house, they did a fantastic job. Three of them spent two hours and I was very happy with the work they did. I am a single woman with no kids or pets, so my house stays fairly clean. I mainly just wanted someone, once a month, to do a thorough cleaning including things like the baseboards, ceiling fans, mop the floors, and a good dusting of the furniture (not just the tops).
The last few times they only spent one hour. I emailed Francis before my last cleaning to confirm that baseboards and fans were to be done at every cleaning and she confirmed that they were. But for the last two cleanings I've had they were not. I asked that floors be thoroughly vacuumed (including under and behind furniture - which I think is reasonable) but they were not. This wet summer we've had has brought plenty of bugs out of the woodwork (literally) and several dead ones were left in the corners and behind the sofa.
The legs of my dining table and chairs were left dusty. Actually most of the legs of the furniture were left dusty. I usually leave out the vacuum attachments (I have a central vac) including one for the upholstered furniture. And since I'm guilty of snacking in the living room, there were still crumbs where the upholstered furniture was not vacuumed.
At the first cleaning, I provided a list of things that I wanted to ensure were done every visit and was told this would not be a problem and was actually appreciated. However, service has fallen short since the first visit.
Maybe it's a language barrier issue with some of the cleaning girls and they just don't understand what they are supposed to be doing. Francis did offer to have my house re-cleaned or $20 off my next cleaning. I feel like if I use them again I will need to translate that document I provided at the very first visit. "As a business owner it is very difficult to read a review and realize you have lost a client. I would like to thank (member name removed) for writing this. As difficult as it is to get bad reviews it is important to us to learn from them. All of our supervisors speak English, but we do have two employees that speak very little English. To help remedy this issue we have hired a translator to come in and meet with our girls twice a week. This will give us the opportunity to go over any issues very clearly with all of our employees. All of our staff is now learning English and Spanish industry words each week as well. I understand that clients will be lost and not all people will be pleased, but we do strive to do our absolute best and will continue to grow from both positive and negative feedback. Hopefully this will give us the opportunity to earn back (member name removed)'s business and prevent us from losing any other clients due to communication issues."

The last cleaning of my house was excellent. The only reason I rated this company with a B instead of an A is the inconsistency in the cleanings. I do not always get the same two people every week and some girls definitely do a better job than others. My husband and I both work all week so we don't spend much time cleaning so it is very helpful to utilize their services once a week.
Overall, I am very pleased with Dishes and Dinner. Again my only suggestion would be to notify the home owners of the house cleaners so that we can give appropriate feedback to the business owner. Some things I don't notice until weeks later and by that point I'm not sure when it happened and since different people clean I wouldn't know who to raise the issue with.

This turned into a struggle. The agreed schedule was treated as a suggestion and the service deteriorated severely over time. We really never knew who would show up. We tried to correct this several times. However, it got to the point where we could see that parts of the floors had not been touched and the bathrooms were only partially cleaned on consecutive visits, we terminated the service.

I was moving into a new unit and I wanted a thorough cleaning done prior to to the move in date. I called on Wednesday for an appointment on Thursday, and was confirmed the desired date. D&D were very accommodating considering this was a last minute appointment. They quickly coordinated with the building manager and scheduled a time that was mutual to all parties.

I was having a party of 50 over and called Dishes & Dinner for housecleaning. Frances answered via cell phone even though it was her lunch hour, away from the office, but got back to me within the hour. She told me it would be a 3 hour job for my size home. I had called about 7-10 days in advance and they were able to come on the day I requested. The company had cleaned for me about a year ago and 4 girls showed up and did a spectacular job! This time 2 girls showed up and started cleaning upstairs (they are instructed to clean upstairs first). My house is not cleaned regularly and I have chronic fatigue so it gets bad, especially floors. They took about 1-1/2 hours and cleaned upstairs which has 4 BR's 2 baths, then came downstairs. They did a good job downstairs, except tile kitchen floors which extends into hallway and front entry still had streaks, not cleaned very well, but this is my only complaint. They had a lot to do in the time they were here, 1550 sq. ft. downstairs and I was happy to have things taken care of! They ask you to look things over to check on their work, which I didn't do, so have no one to blame but myself re kitchen floor.

I highly recommend Dishes and Dinner. Although we only scheduled a house cleaning this time, there are several services they provide. The owner, Frances, is very responsive. If you have any questions or concerns, let her know -- she will immediately address them to make sure all goes according to expectations. Additionally, the company is a good community partner, supporting local nonprofits.

The house is a rental home. The crew arrived, I let them in and left. They cleaned the kitchen--counters, cabinets, floor, refrigerator/stove; bathrooms, vacuumed all carpeted areas, and dusted the window sills/blinds. I was very happy their services, as I had been with the cleaning they had done in previously in another rental house. Scheduling is easy via email or phone. I highly recommend this company and plan to use them for any future housecleaning needs.

We love using them! We just email or call them when we need them and we receive a prompt reply back. The same group of gals usually come out and they are so pleasant. They listen intently to our specific instructions and then they work hard until their time is up (we pay a set amount - that we can afford - for an hour and a half of their time).
