Culligan of Charlotte

This Culligan branch has improperly trained field technicians and terrible customer service. The field tech came to my home due to system no longer flowing. I have two systems, one upstairs and one downstairs. He recommed replacing filters in both at a cost of $129 each. He then charged approximately $200 for the service for a total bill of $474. That's right. $474 to replace water fiters that literally twist on. He left saying it would take time for the system to produce water and fill container. Well, the system did not flow and did not produce water. Called main office and told them I want them to come back and actually fix the system I paid them to fix. I also informed them I would not be paying for this second visit as they left me wiht non fuctioning equipment. They came back out a week later and simply bypassed one of the cartridges to get system flowing again. They sent me a bill for another $120 after agreeing to no charge. I called to complain and they said they will send my bill to collections. I am simply astounded that they would leave a customer wiht non functioning equipment and then have the audacity to charge for a 2nd visit to fix what was not fixed the first visit.

Culligan did not put an air gap in our filtration system, which was attached to our septic system. This is illegal. What was in our septic tank could have went into our drinking water and put myself, my husband and 2 young children in the hospital, if this wasn't caught. We have lost thousands of dollars due to this with issues in our home the last year. They also left an open P trap pipe in our crawl space, which would have flooded the area with septic contaminants. Culligan has not been at all sympathetic. When I called the office, April made me give her my credit card and threatened to charge it $130 to even come talk about the issues at hand! Culligan owes us thousands of dollars for their negligence and illegal activity. Because they won't make things right, we now have to get union county building code involved and have a DLI investigator come to our home. They may lose their plumbing licensee over this. This is what happens when a company won't do the right thing.

Price I guess was about the same.

Had a great experience. The sales person scheduled an appointment and showed up promptly and was very thorough in his testing of our water. We had a serious issue with hard water. He suggested the perfect system for our house...at a cost that was less than we expected. The installer arrived promptly on the scheduled day and was done in less than 90 minutes. He showed my spouse how to work the system, type of salt needed, etc. So far we can tell a huge difference in the water in our house. Great experience overall.

Culligan incorrectly wired the water softener when it was initially installed ($3500). Of course, I didn't know that! At that time, they also left a huge mess where they dragged the heavy tanks through my driveway and garden up to the pumphouse and just shrugged their shoulders about that. When the wiring finally completely fried the system, after shorting out several times and being "repaired" by them (about $500 for "repairs"), over the course of about 3 years, I had to replace the entire system (another $3500) and wiring ($500). They refused to accept responsibility for any aspect of the problem. I had to go to another company for all the repairs/new system. I would not recommend them to anyone!

The person who had come out was very knowledgeable. He knew his job well and had explained very well what he was doing and why he was doing it. We had a bit of a problem even after installation, and he had come back again and fixed it at no extra charge.

They came when they said they would. They did a good job. It was a good experience.

They were prompt and fixed my softener in a timely fashion.

They then sent out a service guy that had a completely different filter and they brought out an extra one (we had ordered two) which fit. They then charged us for the visit. I told them I didn't think this was appropriate because if they would have sent out the right filter the first time they wouldn't have had to come to give me a new one. We went back and forth about the problem and I ended up having to call about five times before I could get it resolved the way I felt it should be. We have been using them for many years and this is the only time that we have had a problem with them. The approximate cost is for two sets of filters for four total.

Joey did a great job, Neat, clean, etc. He came back several days later after we called about a whining noise. The valve just needed adjusting.

SCHEDULER NEEDED TO GET BACK WITH US THE NEXT DAY AFTER DISCUSSING SCHEDULES WITH THE SERVICE MEN AND THEY KEPT THEIR WORD. MID MORNING THE NEXT DAY, I RECEIVED A CALL WITH SCHEDULING DETAILS. THE SERVICE MAN WAS ON TIME AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD, WAS CHEERFUL AND EFFICIENT.

THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T COME ON MONDAY, BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO COME OUT ON THURSDAY. THE OFFICE PERSON, THAT ANSWERED ON THE FIRST CALL, WAS ABRUPT AND DIDN'T SEEM CONCERNED ABOUT OUR MEDICAL NEEDS TO HAVE SOMEONE OUT RIGHT AWAY (DUE TO A SKIN CONDITION). THE TECHNICIAN THAT FINALLY CAME WAS PUNCTUAL, AND FINE.

MARVIN BELL IS OUR DELIVERY MAN AND HE DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB FOR US. I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN WITH BO TATE IN THE OFFICE. THEY HAVE BOTH BEEN VERY RESPONSIVE AND CUSTOMER ORIENTED IN HANDLING QUESTIONS AND REQUESTS.
