I truly felt that Chris was genuinely dedicated to providing the best possible quality installation for me. During preparation for installation of the carpets, Chris ensured that all tack strips were repaired/replaced/ in place. He had all necessary professional equipment to do the job right.
I highly recommend Chris Cranston/ Cranston Flooring when you need any flooring project done. He was punctual, straightforward on costs and what to expect, he followed through on completing the job on time, highly professional, and a pleasure to work with during the whole process. Thank You, Chris, for making my floors beautiful.
DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!
Chris Cranston put my tile floor and back splash in a little over 2 1/2 years go which costs me 5000.00 dollars. About 4 month's later, I started seeing cracks in the grout lines! I called him immediately he said not to worry that it was just settling and he would come fix it. He came out and looked at it and at first blamed it on the his tile guy, he asked him right in front of me did you mix the grout to thin or to wet? Dave his tile guy responded with no, it must be moisture under her house. Dumb me!!!! I believed them, they then went under my house with A GADGET that reads your moisture content my neighbor told me at the time he was full of s***. He told me then he would not fix it until I fixed the moisture problem. I then replaced my plastic under my crawl space and spent 1000.00 on that to do so. He finally came out after 6 month's and put in new grout. I asked then is the tile moving he said NO!!!
Three month's later grout is cracking again he comes out does the same thing to fix it. This time he tells me my house is moving and I need to hire a contractor or inspector to figure out what is wrong with my house. Three month's later it is cracking again he makes me wait another three month's to repair it because my floor is expanding due to weather changes and this effects the expansion of my floor. I asked him at this point about a flexible grout and about the thin set that was used. I told him what two other flooring people suggested, he said we will see. When he gets there he starts to do the exact same thing to repair it that he has done the last two times. I asked him is this going to fix the problem? Because, I am going to be putting my house up for sale and don't want the new home buyer to have issues he said well, I think you should sell it as fast as you can so it is somebody else's problem. I told him what the other tile people said about the thin set and the flexible grout. He said to my face well why don't you have them fix it then? He then told me they have changed the grout to avoid any problems with future jobs because of my issues with my floor.
So now after 2 and 1/2 years I have decided to hire someone else to fix it because he refuses to fix it right. Here is what has to happen to fix it correctly. My kitchen is going to be a complete mess again for about a week they have to go in and lift up the tile to get all the old thin set off and start completely over. The tile is placed on backer board which he did but also a thin set is applied to basically glue down the tile. If this is not correctly put down, if it is applied to thin your tiles will come loose in some areas on corners and when this happens your grout cracks because the tiles are moving not your house!!!! This is what happened on my job.
Dave his tile guy was left to do this job by himself no help at all on a large area which was Kitchen, Den, Laundry room, and Half bath and the thin set was spread onto big areas to thin and dried out before the tile was put down because it was him doing it alone. Dave was very upset and angry because he was doing this job by himself and expressed it to me when Chris wasn't around I came home on two different occasions within the 4-5 day period and he was always alone and no on was helping him. I don't blame Dave, I blame Chris! This man was extremely nice and seemed to know his business very well! I trusted him. He lied to me about my crawl space, he lied to me about my house moving, he lied to me about the expansion of the floor, he also told me my pergola was moving and that needed to be replaced which it is not. He did this to avoid re-doing a job that he messed up in the first place.
I am now spending another 1000.00 plus 300.00 on three boxes of new tile because when they take them up, I will have a good bit of broken tile! It is very sad and disappointing that there are so many dishonest people who will lie to your face to avoid admitting fault for there own stupid mistakes and not correct them. I trusted this man and his small private owned little company. I wanted to support the little guy and not use Home depot or Lowe's because I thought I would get a trustworthy individual who really cares about his customer and his reputation! I guess my next step is to call the better business bureau or action nine what do you think????? Lucy Stephan
We had carpet stretched in four rooms. Chris and David are experts and leaders in the industry and are very professional. They are very aware of appointment time and called when they were on their way. From their workmanship it was obvious they set their standards high. They also vacuumed and cleaned up as they did the work.
We are moving to a new home, and we will need their expertise there.
A year or so after the initial install we had some gapping due to humidity/settling issues. For some reason I fixed myself by filling in the gaps with wood caulk for about two years. Ridiculous, I know. Finally I called them(more than 3 years after the install) and they said they would come right over to assess. When they arrived they almost knocked us down to get to the problem. Kind of funny. At the end he walked me around and said, we got it all fixed, nothing more here to be "embarrassed" about. That is what I am talking about. They have enough passion where they truly feel a gap in the floor board is embarrassing. Not worthy of their name and they will get it fixed. Even though it had nothing to do with them or their original work. You get the feeling that their standards are higher than yours. They left the door open too. Any additional issues in the future just give them a call.
I recommend them for sure!
