The workers did a great job. They actually married the flooring in the bedrooms to the existing hallway floors and it looks flawless! They we're a pleasure to work with.

Owners accommodated our schedule in completing the work while we were away on vacation. We returned home to beautiful new hardwood floors. Andrew & Marilyn gave us great suggestions on the color, board size and how to transition existing flooring in foyer to new flooring in the living room. We are quite pleased with Buff & Coat and appreciate their attention to detail.

Andrew and Marilyn accommodated my odd schedule to provide service when I was available. Their pricing is extremely reasonable. Their crew arrived on time each day. The crew took care to seal off the work area to minimize dust in the rest of the house. I am 100% satisfied.

Technician was very prompt; completed the job in the allotted. Also, left everything cleaned. Owner of company dropped twice to see how the job was going and responded to a question after the job was completed.

They were saviors! Our first contractors only completed half of the kitchen project and did a horrible job. They said it would be 4-6 weeks before they could start back working. Buff & Coat was able to complete the work within three days. They did an excellent job! I will definitely recommend them and absolutely use them, again.

Buff and Coat subcontracts out the work. The finished job was below par on the steps and the upstairs. The color was nice. The people were friendly. I had the first floor done and we had to be out of the house for two to three days once they started staining. They started on a Tuesday I believe. Buff and Coat state that they do not move furniture but they highly recommend this company called All Around Movers managed by someone named Lonnie. I mentioned wanting to get my own movers and trying to get B&C's schedule to work with the movers. Andrew said he just recommends All Around Movers because they come in and out the same day. My furniture had to be moved into the garage and the basement. Meanwhile Buff and Coat did not warn me about removing clothes from linen closets and protecting my rooms behind closed doors. The level of dust was incredible and their staff kept opening my doors and one time let my cat and dog free to go wild on newly done floors after we left about 5 pm. They would bust open my bedroom doors without knocking while I was in bed or dressing.. They stained my staircase in a sloppy manner often getting it on my white trim paint and the light blue walls. I did not care about a little over-stain on the balusters because I planned to replace them. B&C did not make the new floors level upstairs and left narrow holes where the ballusers were reinstalled. I had them come back and fix it once and it made it a lot better than before but not as it should be as can be seen in the pictures. We could walk on the floors freely on Sunday and on that day the floors were destroyed by Lonnie's crew. All around movers lifted up my piano and dropped it flat on its back on my new floors causing what Buff and Coat claims is $1600 worth of damages. This does not include the destruction to my beautiful old piano.. Then Andrew of Buff and Coat told me that the "highly recommended" movers had done this to their customers twice before. The question is why would they be recommending All Around Movers and Lonne if he did this before. Another question is are they still recommending him to others. All Around Movers promised in writing to pay but still haven't 7 months. The movers had no insurance even though the contract states that they do. I wonder what Buff and Coat gets out the deal for recommending an irresponsible moving company. Clearly they get thousands in more work for damage repair. I recommend getting a company with insurance that takes responsibility for the work and the moving. I recommend calling the insurance company to verify coverage..
Response from Buff & Coat
"Buff and Coat is tardy in their response to this review due to it being filed with Angies List six months after the work was completed. Also Angie's List normally sends an alert to the service provider for response but due to a change in their format Buff & Coat was not notified and they only came upon this review in December. Regarding the workmanship, the homeowner was pleased with the floors. There was a color variance in the nosing in a couple of places which was reworked to her satisfaction. Had B&C known in advance that the pickets were going to be replaced with metal balusters they would have recommended to remove them prior to sanding which would have allowed for a more uniform sanding and staining and the holes would be filled. The holes were created when the wooden pickets were removed which occurred after our work was complete. The installer of the balusters is responsible and should have filled the holes. Prior to the job start the owner was advised there would be touch up painting required on the staircase . Regarding the movers; B&C has no affiliation with All-A-Round Movers. The moving contract is between the homeowner and the moving company which holds the liability. B&C receives no referral fee or kick backs. Typically B&C provides the name of two moving companies and the homeowner makes the arrangements. At the time of the incident (floor damage by movers) B&C provided an estimate for the homeowner and also contacted Lonnie Craig of All-A-Round Movers to explain the extent of the damage. Mr. Craig said he would take care of it and would arrange with the homeowner. A few weeks later B&C contacted both parties regarding the repairs and to schedule the repair work. The response from the owner was that she was waiting on Lonnie Craig. B&C commented to the home owner that on a job 2 years ago that All-A-Round Movers had scuffed a floor and that they took responsibility and paid for the repair. Lonnie Craig said he was waiting on the homeowner to schedule the work. It appears there may have been a communication gap between the two. Buff & Coat will complete the repair when the homeowner and moving company resolve their issue. Buff and Coat is a hardwood floor service company that strives to satisfy each and every customer. Unfortunately Buff & Coat is unable to resolve issues beyond the scope of their work."

Andrew and Marilyn estimated the job, took a deposit, and scheduled a complete refinishing of the floor approximately 10 days ahead of the scheduled start. The floor crew consisted of two workers who arrived as scheduled and sanded the flooring smooth. It absolutely looked as if new flooring had been laid. The water damage was removed, and new boards were installed in those two locations. The lead floor man matched the stain to the other oak flooring in our home, and applied the stain on day 1. On day 2, the two workers returned and put down a coat of polyurethane, and let it dry for about 3 hours. Then another coat of poly with a bit of amberizer which gave the refinished floors almost an exact match to the oak flooring throughout the house. This was really an easy process. Ahead of the work, my wife and I removed all of the kitchen items, refrigerator, dining table, bar stools, and counter items. The workers covered the cabinets in plastic and sealed the doors before sanding. Things went very smoothly and I would highly recommend NC Buff & Coat for any hardwood floor refinishing issue. Andrew and Marilyn are very nice people. One note of caution: be prepared to leave some windows open. The smell of wood stain and polyurethane can be very strong. That was not a problem for us, we opened windows for the 2 days required to complete the work. Day 3 the smell is no longer an issue.

Great experience!!! We got an estimate from Andrew a few months prior to when we were planning on having the work done. When we got closer to knowing our timeline we reconnected. Andrew was always prompt in his response and was able to schedule us to the exact dates we needed to work around a larger project. We changed our minds a few times leading up to the work...they worked with us on re quoting based on our changes. Andrew and his wife came over to show us all the colors and finishing options. When it was time for the work to be done they arrived as scheduled and were able to accommodate a few last minutes fixes that were needed with the floor (hidden by previous cabinets). The floors look fabulous. They cleaned up everything we had agreed upon so no surprises and minimal dust. I felt extremely comfortable leaving the employees in my house while the work was being done and we were in a hotel for 2 days. The floors were ready and we were able to walk on them and move everything back within 24 hours.

Andrew was professional, prompt, and knowledgable about his skill. He throughly explained the process of sanding, then sealing my floors. It would take approximately 2-3 hours to sand (hand sanding the edges too) and then two coats of stain and sealler would be another few hours. The process would take approximately 5-6 hours total. Complete drying would take overnight. He did suggest replacing the floor as it would be "about the same price." But I liked the character of the floor and wanted to keep it. After we finally scheduled an appointment for 1:00pm, his 'crew' arrived at 9am. I rearranged my schedule and allowed them to begin. I had to run out to the bank to make payment, and by the time I got back (within an hour) the workers were gone. Turns out they just added a top coat of sealer on top of the dirty floors, sealing the dirt in good. His price was a minimum of $450, I had given a $50. deposit, and he expected $400. I didn't pay him. When I asked why he didn't sand, why he didn't re-stain, and why he sealed the dirty floor, he told me it didn't need to be sanded and it's fine the way it is. I was floored! He got good reviews here, but I wouldn't hire him nor recommend him to anyone.
Response from Buff & Coat
"Buff & Coat met with the customer and evaluated the floor on Dec 10th 2014. It was a 230 square feet parquet floor with many loose tiles an excessive wear and staining. We offer two processes one being a complete sand and finish and the other a light sand and with 2 coats of polyurethane. We generally do not deep sand and finish parquet floors, and with the loose tiles it was not an option for this floor. The limitations of a buff and coat were thoroughly explained to the owner such as a buff & coat is a light sand and will not remove stains or graying from excessive wear. The floor was indeed hand sanded as this was the best technique with the loose tiles. In fact it is better than buffing with a parquet floor where the grain of each tile runs a different direction. After sanding the floor was vacuumed and then coated with polyurethane. the owner was told that the job would take about 2 hours 3 at the most. The crew was finished in 2.5 hours. The work was completed on January 16th, 2015. Buff & Coat performed the work in good faith according to the agreement."

Gorgeous! Our old floors were from 1950 and had never been refinished. They had stains and were bare in some places. There were gaps and a spot that was worn pretty deep and needed to be filled. The job was quick and cost efficient. The new floors are so beautiful we wish we would have done this years ago. Buff and Coat are professional and kind. It was a pretty standard job with no issues. We have 2 additional rooms to finish and we will definitely hire Buff and Coat to finish them.

Buff n Coat were punctual and readily made changes in the coat color. They hand sanded and recoated the stars and ralings which was something most companies were reluctant to unwillling to do.
