He is my favorite. They are not technically professional painters, but for what I wanted, it was fine. I've known them for years. They got the job done. I work with them and when they could come, they did. They had other jobs going on, so they were in and out as they could and that was fine. Off course I will use them again!

Based on a neighbor recommendation, we contacted Mark Bentley of Bentley Remodeling, Inc. for an estimate on turning our 3rd floor walk-up attic space into more of an apartment-type space. Mark came over and measured the space; listened to our wish list; gave us suggestions and warned us of potential issues with plumbing and insulation based on the initial layout we wanted. As he walked through the rest of the house below the 3rd floor, he clearly explained why we would not be able to have a bathroom where we wanted. No other contractor (we got quotes from two others) took the time to investigate feasibility of the floorplan. So, we tweaked our layout slightly and it was a go! Mark and Chris (Mark's employee) came within 2 -3 weeks to start (they had an emergency insurance job to finish first). Throughout the 5-month transformation, they were both courteous, professional, and so easy-going. They answered all our questions and helped with decision-making along the way. Because there was not that much framing to do, no architect was needed (we had measured the space ourselves and used a floorplanning website to create a rough layout for Mark and Chris to use as a guide). This saved a significant amount of money compared to the other contractors from which we got quotes. As construction progressed, Mark guided us on where to go to make flooring and granite selections; provided solutions for cutting costs on cabinetry; researched our desire to use foam insulation and located an authorized company; and gave us adequate notice of the timing of scheduled subs and what decisions/purchases we needed to make beforehand. For example, prior to the electrician coming, we used the floorplanning website to add receptacles, switches, and light fixture boxes to the plan so they could use it as a guide. Then we went over placement of all boxes with Mark and the electrician when they arrived to do the rough-in's. We used the same process for the plumbing rough-in's, as well. This was our first interior renovation in this house and we just had the best time with Mark and Chris. We trusted them both from the moment we met them. We had no qualms about letting Mark have a key to the house (which he and Chris would share). When subs were scheduled to come to the house, Mark would always meet them here to let them in and get them started. If the subs were ones that Mark has worked with regularly for years (which is most of them), he would leave to go to other jobs and check in later. If a sub was new or he did not know the workers, he would stay at our house (or close by) until they were finished. That was a great comfort. The end result of our third-floor reno is a fabulous, cozy space that is used daily. It is now a man / mom cave, media room, mother-in-law suite, guest suite, and family retreat all in one. We have compliments from everyone who visits our house. We had such a positive experience; we look forward to using Bentley Remodeling again and again.
