I have been using Baker Auto for all my Volvos for over 10 years. If it's a Volvo and it can be fixed this is the place to go.

They are awesome and honest. I had several instances where our dealership has told us that we require thousands of dollars to repair vehicles that we own. I then take the cars to Baker Auto. They research the issues and tell me I don't need the repairs. I use them every three or four months and they take care of all our repairs. I believe they are fair with their prices.

I took my Volvo Cross Country to baker Automotive to be diagnosed, turned out to be the throttle body and I was advised to replace it and given a quote. I called the auto shop I used before I moved and checked the price quoted with them, they where quoting me about 30% more for the part, and labor. Shopping around I found out that there where other options to try before replacing the whole part which where not offered here.
To be fair, they gave me a coupon to use for the initial diagnoses which brought down the price by half. Perhaps they do a fair job, I would just advise doing price comparisons.

The overall service experience went well. I didn't have an appointment but they were able to take me right in and perform the work promptly.
I had also been told by another automotive repair facility that I needed expensive front end suspension work. I asked those at Baker to take a look at the suspension and advise if the recommended service was necessary. They looked at the suspension and said the repair was unnecessary.
I'm glad I went to Baker Auto and wil use them again in the future.

Proprietor Tom Baker extremely courteous and helpful in arranging initial appointment via phone and ultimately accommodating desire to diagnose and fix same day as original call for appointment. Work was performed over several (3+hours) while waited. Very good customer service, overall cost seemed higher than expected, esp. aforementioned $400 for labor and freon recharge given time spent waiting (though may be reasonable, did not get competitive quotes) -- perhaps approaching cost of dealer service (which we're trying to avoid, along with less than satisfactory prior dealership service experiences) but again cannot verify without competitive quotes.

They always do a great job. They're honest in their analysis of the issues and fair in their estimates.

I had a routine oil change and filter service performed. Typically, they work on Volvo's but they can do basic maintenance work with any make/model. They also provided me with drop off and pick up from my work location (about 5-10 minutes from their shop). They were quick to take me to work and quick to pick me up. The experience was easy and the staff was friendly!

The owner, Tom Baker, is one of the most honest auto mechanics I've ever dealt with. He consistently amazes us with his repair knowledge and will try to save you money if at all possible. His staff is top notch and your car is always ready when promised. They also provide a convenient shuttle service and give you plenty of notice when your car is ready. If they find something that hasn't previously been discussed, which is rare, they always call to explain their thoughts on what needs to be repaired. Their prices are very fair and you always know that you are getting an honest answer from any of their employees. We highly recommend this repair shop.

This incident is typical of the level of service I have gotten at Baker Auto, whether I was driving an old Japanese car or a newer European car.

WERE WILLING TO WORK ME IN THE SAME DAY, DUE TO THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE PROBLEM. DID A GREAT JOB. THEIR LABOR PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE, EVEN THOUGH PARTS FOR THIS CAR ARE HIGH.

FROM SCHEDULING SERVICE TO COMPLETION OF WORK, BAKER HAS CONSTANTLY EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. I COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED WITH THEIR PROFESSIONAL STAFF. THEY ARE ALWAYS READY TO PROVIDE ADVICE AND TIPS ON THE CARE AND FEEDING OF MY VOLVO, SO THAT IT REMAINS RELIABLE AND ECONOMICAL TRANSPORTATION.

FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES, BUT I QUESTION THE COMPETENCE AND CARE OF THE TECHNICIANS. RECENT EXPERIENCE WAS REPLACEMENT OF LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID PUMP AT COST OF $500+; THE NEXT DAY, A MAJOR FLUID LEAK DEVELOPED AND CAR WAS DISABLED. THIS TIME, THEY DIAGNOSED LEAK IN OIL COOLER LINES. IN THE PROCESS OF DISCONNECTING THE LINES, THEY BROKE THE OIL COOLER ITSELF, WHICH COST AN ADDITIONAL $300 PLUS LABOR TO REPLACE. I HAVE SINCE CHECKED WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS WHO ARE UNANIMOUSLY OF THE OPINION THAT DESTROYING THE OIL COOLER WAS SHODDY OR INCOMPETENT WORK, AND QUESTION WHY THE OIL LEAK SUDDENLY DEVELOPED ONE DAY AFTER THE OTHER FLUID LEAK WAS REPAIRED. BAKER CLAIMED TO HAVE DISCOUNTED THE PRICE OF THE PARTS FOR ME, BUT I HAVE VERIFIED THAT THESE PARTS ARE READILY AVAILABLE BY INTERNET ORDERING AT THE EXACT PRICE I WAS CHARGED.

THE COMPANY PROVIDES EXCELLENT WORK AND HAS A FRIENDLY STAFF. HE WILL GIVE YOU A FREE RIDE UPTOWN AND PICK YOU UP IF NEEDED. THE COST WAS VERY REASONABLE. I'VE USED BAKER AUTO FOR 2 YEARS NOW FOR BOTH MY NISSAN AND VOLVO. I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR WORK AND THEY'VE ALWAYS STRIVED TO KEEP MY COST DOWN.

COULDN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND. TOM, THE OWNER, SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THE PHONE GIVING GOOD ADVICE RE: WHICH CARS ARE PRACTICAL and WHICH ONES AREN'T. SHE SAID SHE'LL TAKE BOTH OF HER CARS TO THEM FROM NOW ON.

WORK ON OUR VOLVO AND ALL OUR FRIENDS' NICE CARS. THEY DO THE WHOLE DRILL, ARE NEAR DOWNTOWN AND DROP YOU NEAR THEIR OFFICE. MUCH BETTER THAN DEALER WHEN YOU GO OFF OF WARRANTY. EVEN DO OUR EMISSIONS STICKERS!

THEY FIXED BOTH CARS. ALL SERVICE ON OUR CARS. IF HE CAN'T FIX IT HE WILL FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN AND MAKE ALL OF THE ARRANGEMENTS. IF YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR CAR, THEY WILL DRIVE YOU HOME.
