"This property inside and out has been severely neglected for many years. This home is located in a very nice Charlotte neighborhood off of Park Rd. This woman's home is worst looking home on the street and is infested with cockroaches. According to her own testimony, all of her neighbors complain about her neglected property and poor personal hygiene. Our job was completed with the best standards the industry has to offer. A new roof will not fix the dilapidated condition affecting the remainder of this or any property. This woman was initially given a $1000 discount on her roof as well as a free upgrade to architectural shingles from a 20 yr three tab. She was also given free ridge ventilation. Her original roof had two layers on it which is further evidence of poor property maintenance. There were squirrels living in the attic of this property at the time the work was being completed and there probably still are - Just another sign of severe neglect. While working on this job ABC helped this woman - free of charge - to pick up some items of furniture she had purchased from a nearby Tuesday Morning, and carried them to the second story of her roach infested, cat urine soaked, home. We also re-hung her falling gutters for free, painted and repaired a few of her shutters - for free. When she called about how her ridge vent - that we installed for free - stating it looked lumpy, we tore it completely off and replaced it for FREE. Also, we installed high quality Owens Corning products on this home, not the cheep stuff that many other companies use. This woman suggested her roof looked or looks lanky - what does that mean and how do you respond in a professional manner to such a vague comment. Our work was completed in a timely manner - one day from start to finish. Our response to the lanky comments were not immediate due to the nature of the complaint. All of the complaints regarding the lanky nature of our work were however rectified within a few weeks after clarification was given about the ridge vent 'appearing' to be lumpy. It is exactly this type of person, who has no understanding of just how poor the condition of her property is , and who has unrealistic expectations of what a new roof should do or look like, that gives good contractors a bad name. A new roof is like a new paint job on a car. Any previously existing dings and dents that had gone unnoticed, will not only show up, but will be magnified by the new and clean outer surface. We should have never taken the job of such an unkempt person and property."
