Thermostat seemed kind of pricey, but I love it. They gave me an option to have my old thermostat back if I didn't like the new one. Showed me the basics of how to program the new one (said even his father, who didn't like new technology in general, liked this thermostat). I'm sure that having a programmable thermostat is letting me save money by setting it to a different temperature for when I'm usually gone (yes, even for a heat pump).

It turns out that the problem more or less fixed itself. They were good because they came on short notice; he had a lot of calls that day but he managed to squeeze us in. I would recommend them.

I bought this duplex a few years ago. Just before closing, I arrived at the duplex to find Mike doing some last minute checkup before the closing. I introduced myself and Mike informed me he did the initial installation of both heating units back in 1986. I told Mike I'd be calling him in the future if I ran into heating problems. I've since used Mike a few more times for this property. Most recently, in January 2010 when the tenant complained about not having heat. I called Mike and he provided me with some troubleshooting tips over the phone. I thought that was a decent gesture on his part to provide "free" consultation in the event I could fix the problem myself. Well, I ended up calling him back and we scheduled a time to meet the next day. When I arrived, Mike had already completed the work! Mike is professional, friendly, and provides honest feedback and estimates. I will be using him each and every time.

The heat pump was sort of working, but it was not heating very well. It was running a lot, and the air coming out of the vents was cold. The first attempt to repair it was to replace a relay. Mike Simmons left the old relay, so that I could see that it was wearing out (not that I know anything about relays and what they're supposed to look like). This did not fix the problem. The symptom was that the outside unit was cutting off. Mike reminded me about the reset button, which would start the unit up again. This was good as far as it went, but the unit kept cutting off again. Mike came out a couple of times when I wasn't there, tested the unit, and could not find anything wrong. He sounded more frustrated than I was and was open to my getting an independent consultation. I arranged to have someone Mike works with a lot (Joe Kozar) to work with him on this. Mike came over and was in phone contact with Joe. By this time I had more information on the symptoms, and Mike figured out that the relay for the main fan was bad. He replaced that relay, and everything has worked well since. I also decided to buy a digital thermostat from Mike. He told me I didn't need it, but I'd been so cold for so long that I wanted to treat myself, and I am really happy with it. I've used Simmons Service Company for years. Mike has always been very helpful and professional, and he has always responded to calls quickly. Once he was unavailable for a job, and he referred me to Joe Kozar, who was able to fix things for me right away. The prices seem highish to me, but I don't know what others would charge, and the estimates are always accurate. I am very comfortable having Simmons Service Company work on my heat pump, and I am comfortable recommending this company to others.

He was very friendly and professional. He took a lot of time with me going through the different systems of the house, explaining how they worked, how they could better work and how I could keep them maintained. He was really very thoughtful because some of my questions were quite basic. He was very respectful, answered all my questions and went above and beyond helping me. He did mention that he had particular products but he didn?t push them in anyway. He said that he wasn?t here about pushing the products, that he had good ones that he could recommend, but that there were other sources and things that we could do besides the high-priced products that he had. I was very impressed with him. I felt really comfortable. I didn?t know how things worked in this house because we?ve never been in the house with an air conditioner before although we were somewhat familiar with the heat. I didn?t have any kind of expectation in terms of the price. For the service he provided and the time that he spent, the price was reasonable. I was happy enough. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

Mike was very knowledgeable. I described my problem over the phone and he was right on the money in guessing what was wrong. He was also helpful in answering any questions we had. He did a great job! Dependable and honest!

The air conditioner works great now. They were quick to come to the house and took a look at it and did a test and knew right a way what needed to be done. They were in and out fast. I like the fact that they are all very professional. They are very good at their jobs. While he was here, he checked out the rest of the unit just to make sure there would be no more surprises.
