This firm should be the first stop for folks looking for granite (or other hard surface countertops). The service was to notch, the staff responsive and they were right on time. Unfortunately, the measuring staff member made a mistake and when they went to put the bar top in it was the incorrect size. It took them a very few days to cut another piece of granite (at heir cost to buy a whole new slab) and have it replaced. Sue in the Chapel Hill showroom was so skilled and friendly.

It was a difficult installation as I wanted a free standing bar with metal legs. Schneiders did a great job building up a surface to attach the legs to and make sure it had enough strength to carry the weight of the granite

We visited the sales office only once and phoned them several times. Most of our interaction was with the staff at the factory stone yard in Asheboro.

Schneider gave us a list of granite yards to visit to pick our granite. That was fun, but time consuming since there are many yards and so many slabs to choose from. We took pictures and got samples and contemplated granite colors for a few weeks before deciding. Then, we made an appointment at a granite yard and choose the actual slabs Schneider would use. Schneider sent someone to our house to measure the cabinets and make a template for the counters. A week later I drove to Asheboro and watched as one of the Schneider owners laid out each piece of the template on the granite. He made sure that the pattern in the granite would match at each seam. At one point I took issue with where the seams were falling because I knew how we were going to use the space in our kitchen. They allowed me to talk to their layout artist in the plant and adjust the location of the seams. A few days later the installation crew arrived at my home. They were pleasant, incredibly skilled, and accurate. The entire experience was very positive.

The folks at Schneider Stone were fantastic. We talked to the person in the Chapel Hill showroom and took home samples to see what we liked. Then we took a trip to the main facility near Asheboro, and picked out our stone. The next step was to have a person come over to measure the space and create the template to cut the stone. The installers came out with the granite and installed it and it looks wonderful!
Their prices were better than most other places we looked at including the home improvement stores. We plan to use Schneider Stone again when we build a new house.

Schneider Stone came recommended to us by a neighbor. They came out and did a professional measurement and provided a detailed estimate. Everything in the process was handled well. Chanda, at the Chapel Hill office, was my main contact person, and she was great. The installers were quick and professional, and the job was done right the first time.

They were very good and professional. We spent probably about $1500 for their service. The installation of the countertop was very professional. So, I liked them very much. We did have some issues with the plumbing, but they were very responsive. However, the plumber was not from Schneider Stone Inc. It was a person they hired to work with us. There were problems with the flow of the water and the people were responsive in coming back to help fix it. So, I thought they should have tested it before they left. That's why I was a little bit disappointed with the plumbing. They were very good in terms of the countertop work and that's what they do. The other person was a subcontractor. Their price was very fair. There was a lot done for the amount of money. The quality of their work was very good. We have one more bathroom to update and we will definitely use them again.

I found this company backwards. I found the stone first and the guy there said Schneider was good so when they gave me a good price and accommodated my rushed schedule, they got the job. They were very professional, punctual, and polite. The stone looks fabulous and they were careful with the paint, cabinets etc. So why didn't they get an A? They mounted my undercabinet sinks with long ugly hacked off pieces of pine that are visible every time I open the cabinets. This may give great structural support but is ugly as sin and gives the cabinets a cheap look when opened. When I complained they said that is how they always do it and if I wanted something different I would have to find it and buy it myself. I had a problem with one of my new sinks leaking right after installation (probably due to the sink being defective and not Schneiders fault). When they replaced the sink (175$ trip and labor charge) they installed it with smaller brackets that look somewhat better. Overall, I like the company and would work with them again, but if you're getting an undermount sink, I would address this issue ahead of time if it is something that would bother you.

They did a great job or working with us on timing. Selection of stone was excellent for our needs. They suggested using a scrap piece to save cost since job was small and they offered several edge finishes to select from at no charge. Template person was quick and professional. Installation crew was proficient and did appropriate cleanup as removal of existing countertop was more difficult than expected. Result was exactly what we hoped. I will use again for bathroom remodel I am planning currently and would recommend to anyone.

Shanda was very nice to deal with at the store. We picked out the pattern we wanted and then we went to the factory and picked out the slab since there are many variations in the granite. It was marked with our name on it while we were there and Beth was very nice and professional at the factory. The installers came when they were suppose to, but we discovered that it was not the one we had picked out and we did not like it at all. We were glad we had the sample with us from the factory to compare it with. So we called Shanda and she called the factory and discovered that the slab we had chosen was still there with our name on it. Shanda apologized profusely and said how sorry she was and that the right granite would be installed two days later and it was. She took 275 off the price, which we appreciated and thought was fair. The installers did a good job and we are happy with the outcome. Our biggest problem was that the sink was disconnected on a Tues and was not reconnected (by a private plumber) until Monday because the countertop was installed on a Friday and the plumber said it needed to "set". That was a big inconvenience with no water available in the kitchen. Effected our filtered water too.
Response from Schneider Stone Inc
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that occurred because the wrong stone was cut. We try very hard to resolve any issue that occurs in a timely fashion. We hope that you enjoy the final product and we understand how frustrating it can be to live without water for several days. Again, we apologize and hope at the end of the day, you were satisfied with the final product. If you would like to contact us, we would be happy to offer you a free "Clean and Seal" service for your countertops in addition to the $275 deduction in your invoice."

We couldn't be happier with the way this project went. They searched for and found granite to match as closely as possible the counter that we had. Their installers were on time, did a beautiful job and cleaned up when finished. We would certainly recommend them.
