Very flexible, tremendously courteous and engaging. James is a really great guy. The work was absolutely amazing. The buyers who came into the house said they could not believe the quality on the work that James did because it was so great.

James was recommended to me by my plumber, who is excellent. My plumber is from Raleigh and said that James is the only person he will do contract work for in the Chapel Hill area because of the quality of his work. I interviewed two other contractors, but ultimately trusted my plumber's judgment and could not be happier with the result. First off, the price was very reasonable. Several years ago, I got a preliminary estimate on the remodeling of upstairs bedroom and that alone was estimated to be $10,000. However, for that same price, James did the remodeling, refinished and repaired my wooden floors, worked on my laundry room and painted the entire interior of my home, in addition to other odds and ends. Second, James was very professional and very responsive.  He has a small crew and and he takes pride in quality work, and any issues that are found are addressed immediately.  I found it very easy to communicate with James by phone and text.  Because of the quality of his work, I asked him to do several add-on jobs in addition to the original job. The floors look very nice, the upstairs bedroom looks much more spacious and very nicely done, and the paint job was excellent. In fact, I had previously had the interior of the house painted by a very popular painter I found on Angie's List. However, I was dismayed when the paint seemed to scuff up so easily and how quickly I needed to paint again. James looked at the paint they used and told me they had used a lower quality paint, and that he used a higher quality of paint that should last longer, and indeed, it definitely looks better. I absolutely would not hesitate to use James again for a job, and am already planning my next remodeling job with him.

It went well during the painting. They were clean, and when they weren't they cleaned up the noted messes. The lights were installed by James very well. However, after a month or so we noticed that the new paint in our dining area was peeling off the wall. We had just taken out a wall and had the general contractor remove chair railing, but this wasn't where the paint was peeling. Instead it was where James and his crew had painted over wallpaper, without primer. To their credit, they didn't know there was wallpaper (or its remnants) below a coat of paint because we had just moved into the house and didn't know either. However, I suggested primer given we had the chair rail removed, and the wall patched, and they said it wouldn't need primer. James did return and cut out the peeling wallpaper, sanded and mudded the wall, and repainted it to his cost. However, we still have other areas where his paint job is peeling off and can't easily go back and fix it.
