"Hi [member name removed]: Thanks for the thoughtful review on Angie's List! I really appreciate it! I do watch the finished DVDs to make sure the transfer turned out well. And, yes, the distortion on the bottom of your tape was from age and tracking distortion which is also age-related. I apologize for not mentioning this to you! I should have. I very much appreciate your business and your constructive review. Your comments make me better at what I do! Thanks! - John Watkin, Owner MVP Video"
I was pleased with the service that John Watkins (owner) provided. My need was simple ... his service simple and priced appropriately. I was a bit disappointed that the 2 VHS videos could not be put on one DVD, seeing as each was less than 30 minutes long. John explained it had something to do with the space on the DVDs. No problem ... it wasn't a game changer. His price for duplications was very reasonable and he was pleasant to work with.
He also promised next-day service and I assumed he would call me when the DVDs were ready, but I didn't receive a call until 4 days later ... again, not a problem since I was not in a rush. Had I been, I would have mentioned it, and I'm sure he would have provided it. Overall, I'd say he did a very good job ... simple request and simple process.
Working with John at MVP Video was the perfect solution to both of my fears. I loved that he was local and that I could drive to his studio and personally hand off my tapes. He made me feel extremely comfortable and excited about the entire process. I am still so grateful for the timeliness of this project - I contacted him on a Thursday, he got back to me on Monday. I dropped the tapes off at Noon on Monday and they were done by Wednesday afternoon. AND it was the week before Christmas - a busy time I assume.
It is true that you can find cheaper rates at the online retailers for video transfer, but the personal, local, and super-speedy service more than made up the price difference for me! I highly recommend working with John.
We plan to have John transfer our own home movies from VHS tapes to DVD's in the future. That way our daughter's will also have DVD's recording their time growing up.
