I went to Grimball Jewelers to have a custom ring made.
Tony, their designer, spent quite a bit of time educating me as to the
different types of settings and the pros and cons of each. He listened carefully
to what I was looking for and offered suggestions on how to best achieve my
goal. He was very patient, drew diagrams, and showed me examples in the
showcase when possible. I was not charged for any of his valuable time. Two
weeks later, my husband came with me, and Tony spent even more time going over
the same options with my husband. Again, there was no charge for his time. After
finally deciding on a design, Tony created 3D images of the proposed ring based
on the stones we supplied. Shortly after our approval of
the final images, the ring was finished. As an added surprise, Tony made
arrangements to have the ring appraised ahead of schedule so that I could have
it on my birthday! I am very pleased with the quality of work. The ring is
beautiful!
As a side note, prior to putting in the final order for my
ring with Grimball, I went to a well-publicized jewelry store for a second
opinion. This store claims to offer quality jewelry at wholesale prices. I was
shocked when their price was significantly more than Grimball. They spent less
time than Tony did going over my options and then pressured me to give a 50% deposit
for the work that day. It was such an unpleasant experience and a polar
opposite to my experience at Grimball. If you plan to have jewelry made, Grimball
Jewelers should be on your short list of stores to consider.

They were very honest with me, that they would not give me what the rings were worth. They said they were very valuable rings and I would be better off selling them on e-bay. They were wonderful: prompt, responsive, honest, professional, very knowledgeable and gave me great advice - they didn't have to tell me how to get a better price! The appraisal is a whole page.
