John Cauthen and First Home Call Home Inspections did a great job in inspecting a home we had under contract. John worked with us to do the inspection even earlier than his initial availability allowed. He spent over four hours going through every inch of the home, providing valuable insight and expertise. We also learned a great deal about homes, home maintenance, inspections, codes, and more from John. His knowledge and professionalism are unparalleled. John maintains the highest level of ethical standards. He does not receive or provide compensation for any referrals, making him truly independent. Before and after the inspection, John was always willing to talk with us on the phone, taking the time to answer our questions. We will hire John Cauthen and First Call Home Inspections for all future home inspections and highly recommend him to all of our friends, colleagues, and neighbors.

John is very professional inspector. He is always on time, is extremely responsive, and has an online availability calendar on his website, so you don't have to wait to check availability.
During the inspection he is extremely thorough and finds things that other inspectors don't. He does not alarm the homebuyer about the property, but rather explains any concerns and spends time answering questions.
His reports are professional and thorough. You will receive them with a simple online passcode and get them back very quickly.
I also appreciate that John is available to discuss matters about a property he inspected at a later date too if questions arise.

Went great, inspector identified a couple dozen things to be corrected (thankfully all were minor and/or cosmetic in nature). Inspector explained the operation of major appliances, electrical system, water system, etc. Inspector also made suggestions/recommendations for things to think about doing.
Bottom line, it's reassuring to have someone else look (especially someone who's done it before). I consider myself fairly adept at things, but even if I had spent a full day, I doubt I would have come up with half the things on the list.
Money well spent.

He was excellent. I have used him twice. The first time he did inspection was in February. He helped me to rule out the house that I was looking at before the one that I bought. As a matter of fact I just sent him an email last weekend to ask him for advice on insulating my garage because I want to make it into a workshop. He actually called me at work and apologized. He said he was on vacation and sitting at the beach. He asked me what my question was because he couldn't get to the email. He literally called me while he was on a vacation to help me. He talked to me for good fifteen minutes just updating me what I needed to look at and pay attention to, for insulating my garage.

John was very thorough in his inspection, including going on the roof and spending a good amount of time inspecting the crawlspace. He did a good job of explaining his findings while he was doing the inspection and gave us many good tips as well. His report was well organized which made it an easy read.

John spent at least 4 hours doing a detailed and thorough home inspection. He was a very nice guy and very professional. I accompanied him through the house and he explained exactly what he found and what needed to be done about it. His report was awesome. He took pics of all the defects and included a summary of the report that is basically a detailed to do list.
