Carolina Closets Plus just finished its fourth major project for us in the last 3 ½ years. First and foremost to us when working with a contractor is the quality and honesty of the people. There is enough stress during a large project in setting the requirements, making decisions, approving a contract, putting up with the mess of construction, and paying for it all that you don’t need extra stress worrying about the people managing and doing the work. The owners, Terri and Mike Hoffer, are an absolute joy from the beginning to the end and the folks they have to do the installations are professional, courteous, and highly skilled. An important thing to know about Mike and Terri is that they are creative! They won’t come in and give you a cookie cutter solution. Each of our projects with them was different – a laundry room remodel, extensive garage storage, craft room storage that consisted of an entire wall alcove filled with specialized drawers and cabinets, and, most recently, remodeling the master bedroom closet. On that last one, Terri and Mike easily doubled the amount of usable storage space compared to the original closet. It looks beautiful and is very efficiently arranged. Another important thing to know is that Mike and Terri stand behind the quality of the final work product. They come out personally to inspect the work and ensure that the customer is totally satisfied with it. No job is perfect; but, Terri and Mike strive to get it as close to the standard as possible. Do we like their work and do we recommend them – you bet! We are almost sad that we are running out of projects to work on with them.

Mike, his wife, and the entire team were a real pleasure to work with on this project. I met with several other companies initially. Carolina Closets Plus offered the best, most creative, and most thorough designs (including 3D illustrations that really helped me to visualize the new design in the space). They also came in lower in price than one of the major national closet companies. I was also able to come into their showroom to see the various options in person and select hardware and finishes. The installation team was personable and professional and the installation was high quality. I am extremely pleased with my two new closets - so much more functional now! Highly recommend Carolina Closets Plus!

I have hired Carolina Closets Plus four times over the past eight years. They have now redesigned all seven closets in my home. It was a pleasure to work with Mike and his team, and I am thrilled with the results. There were lots of design options and Mike provided helpful input as needed. The installation crew was prompt, neat, and professional. The work was not inexpensive, but it was worth every penny.

It was a real pleasure working with Mike Hoffer and his crew. Mike and his wife visited our home, took notes on what we wanted, made several great suggestions and took measurements. Within a few days, we received the plans - elevations and 3D renderings. Over the next week, we chose to make a few changes which they assisted us with. The following week, four of their professionals arrived as planned at 8:00 am and had all of the closets installed by 3:30 pm. The company uses 3/4" furniture grade melanine that is "thermofused to the surface" that is available in many different colors. We chose a color to match our hardwood floors. What a difference an appealing, functional closets make! Although we were initially concerned about the cost, they were worth every cent we paid.

Mike and his team made the most of our space and provided us with as many drawers as we could get. They even returned to adjust one of the drawers that wasn't fully closing. We are considering more cabinetry and drawers and will definitely be giving Mike a call.

Carolina Closets Plus did an excellent job, as usual. This is the second house we've used them on, and we've have consistently been impressed by the level of customization and responsiveness provided by this company. Not only did they install all of the pieces we had agreed, but when my wife spontaneously had an idea for turning an entry closet into a shoe storage area they pivoted on a dime and had the pieces installed almost instantaneously. I would highly recommend them to others.

This company was one of three we contacted to provide proposals to organize three areas in our new house – pantry, laundry room, and garage. Each company was told that creativity and effectiveness of their solution were more important than price. This company won hands down and the price for the value was great too!
Mike and Terry are great people with whom to work. As a team they bring years of experience to the job and complement one another well. We told them our problems and they came up with creative solutions. We went back and forth multiple times, reviewing proposed drawings each time, to come up with the solution in each area that best fit our needs. It is important to emphasize that they listened to what we were saying. They were also very accommodating in scheduling to work around other contractors working on the same areas. Just a few days before their work was to start, we had to add an extra project to replace the shelves in a bedroom closet when we discovered, while preparing for a painter, that the existing wire shelves were beginning to fall off the walls. Mike and Terry came right out, provided a proposal, and were able to add the closet to the schedule when the original three rooms were to be done.
Their staff of installers (all permanent employees) was super. They were meticulous in their workmanship and obviously take great pride in their handiwork. As they worked, they often asked questions to ensure that they understood exactly what was to be done and made suggestions when something could be improved. The end result in every area is beautiful.
Bottom-line, this is one of the best contractors with whom we have ever worked. We plan to have them back again soon to work on other areas that need their expertise.

Mike was very responsive. He and his wife met with us and took measurements and our requirements. He worked very hard to meet expedited time limits for completion of the job. He provided good communication and was easy to work with. He has computer programs that allow him to provide detailed drawings of the installation. That is a huge plus because it avoids much of the usual ambiguity and confusion about exactly what the finished product will be. After the installation, I realized that I had made a mistake in giving Mike our requirements for one of the closets (my mistake entirely, not his). Luckily, there was a very easy fix. Mike took care of it quickly and well.

Mike and his wife responded quickly to my call and carefully measured the spaces we wanted to improve. Mike put very good designs together in an easy to review and thorough format. They installed during our vacation week, so we were thrilled to come home to find the work completed and the work areas cleaned up. It was exactly what was promised, and a bit more! Plus, now we actually have empty shelves!

Mike and his wife came out to provide an estimate, and brought all the finishes with them, which made it easy to match my floor and walls. They actually suggested a configuration that I hadn't considered for our oddly-angled walk-in closet, which I liked. At the showroom, we saw all available systems, pulls, fronts, etc. We learned that all-wood is not only very expensive, but not all done using single boards, so we went with the melamine in an espresso finish with brushed nickel pulls. The work was completed in a single day, and the crew was careful to lay down plastic over our carpet so as not to track dirt and trash all over it. The closet looks beautiful!

I cannot be happier with the results. Every closet was created for maximum storage and hanging. Mike listens to your needs and then designs what you ask for. This is no cookie cutter job. The closet results are absoulutely beautiful and functional. The workmen were professional, on time and worked hard until every board was in place. This is the best company for closets that I have ever used. I almost hated to put in my clothes and shoes in them.

After reading several online reviews of various closet renovation companies in the Raleigh NC area, I contacted Carolina Closets Plus in Oct 2014 to help me with a major project to renovate the large dressing room/closet off my master bathroom. I was looking for a company that could me help me design/coordinate/implement a complete "gut the closet down to the drywall and start over with a clean slate" project! Mike Hoffer and his wife drove 50 miles on a Friday afternoon to meet me and discuss the scope of the project, budget, design ideas etc. They arrived on time, measured everything in the room, and gave me lots of suggestions on ways to improve the design/organization/functionality of the space. They emailed a preliminary design to me for each wall of the closet and the center island, along with a ball-park cost estimate. Several weeks later, I visited their Chapel Hill showroom to choose the cabinet color, design, hardware, accessories for the closet, and see the various options that were available. They emailed revised drawings and cost estimate to me after the visit to the showroom, and accommodated several design changes I made (such as adding a hanging file drawer and more adjustable shelves). Mike Hoffer sent his project mgr to my house one week prior to the scheduled install date to re-measure everything, and go over the closet design wall-by-wall to make sure that all the design elements I wanted were incorporated. Over the next 5 days, my painter removed all the old shelving, repaired drywall & repainted the entire closet, the electrician took out the old fluorescent lights and installed new outlets & recessed lights & dimmer switches, and we had new carpeting installed. Mike helped me with this list of what had to be done- in order -so that the other phases of the project would be completed PRIOR to his crew arriving. Carolina Closets Plus installation crew arrived on time the following day to begin the 2 day closet install phase, and then came back two weeks later to finish installing final accessories and a few things that I added into the design at the last minute (including a full-length mirrored door on hinges, and two more adjustable shelves) Everyone on the staff, including the install crew, were very courteous and professional to work with, and I would definitely recommend hiring Carolina Closets Plus if you are looking for a full-service design and installation team for your next project! I plan on hiring them again to assist with other re-organization projects in my home.

No problems at all. They took care of everything! They even had the closet painted before they started their work. (I asked them to do this.) The actual job only took a little over 1 day and it looks great! I would definitely call them back if needed.
