BLACKWOOD GRADING & LNDSCPNG

Geary gave us a handwritten quote for this job of $6800.  This was to be the "total cost for entire job & all materials as needed" (as worded in the quote.).  When he informed us he'd actually used quite a bit more concrete than he'd initially planned on and that it would be $1200 more we were not happy - but the work had been done, so we didn't complain and just paid it.  They went ahead & completed everything as stated satisfactorily.
Unfortunately about a week later we began experiencing severe sewer backup.  Water was not draining and was backing up through the toilets and bathrooms.  We immpediately called a plumber.  Acccording to the plumber the "cleanout" pipe had been crushed (underground) by the heavy equipment used in the repair work.
 
Our total bill for this work was $1873.87 - included "dig up & repair to the cleanout" & hydrojet cleanout to the manhole.  We called Geary a few weeks later (as my husband ha d had major surgery so we were unable to deal with it before then!) and requested that he consider reimbursing us for some of this expense.  He totally refused to even consider that he had any liability.
So, instead of paying just the $6800 initially quoted we ended up paying a little over $3000 more for a total of almost $10,000 !
Unfortunately, we have gone from being very happy with the job that was done, to being extremely unhappy about the additional costs created by  their negligence. 

The driveway at my home was 25 years old and un-drivable.  It had substantial cracks and had heaved such that no car could drive down it without scraping
I found Blackwood Landscaping through my Realtor.  After a thorough estimate we agreed on a timetable. Garry and his team were on time, polite and incredibly hard working.  They took out the old driveway (no small feat) and put in the new one within a week.
I love my driveway and am tickled pink to be able to park at my house rather than on the street!

It was very well done.  They are very reputable, very responsible and very diligent.  They make sure that the work is done well.  I'm actually satisfied with it.  Their price is a little on the higher side but not too much.
