First, Scottie Edwards was adamant that he did not need to clean the concrete coating off the front porch prior to installing the brick pavers. This oversight on his part was a drastic mistake. Over the course of 4 months, the brick pavers started turning white ( not efflorescence). He attempted to clean the white stuff with an inappropriate concrete paver cleaner which was loaded with several acids. Scottie had already pressure washed the brick pavers twice with muriatic acid which is no longer acceptable in the masonry industry. As a result, the mortar joints were weak due to being indundated with acid. He also did not allow the mortar to cure 10-14 days after the installation. He started cleaning the pavers with acid and a pressure washer the next day. Needless the say, the front porch had to be torn apart and redone by another brick mason since he never upheld the warranty. In addition, the patio and rear areas were not level with resulting moisture issues. What a mess by a brickmason who took shortcuts and attempted to do a job which was out of his league! Unfortunately, I took a $3500 loss trying to fix the areas according to the industry standards.
