I purchased an a/c inspection and yearly plan and given the ok for 3 a/c units (needed coolant and paid extra) Then system stopped working, called for repair. Got repair and paid for more service. Next a/c stopped working and froze pipes and damaged walls inside of my home. Charged $650 to fix for the 3rd time. Please don't use this company. They literally have no idea how to fix air conditioners. Went from everything is OK to $1000 in damage in 2 weeks!

Easy to schedule, arrived on time, did all work timely, staff was friendly and easy to be around. Price was reasonable. However, two of the ceiling vent louvers were not reinstalled correctly when the vents were cleaned. Instead of calling them back I reinstalled them myself.

"The homeowner purchased a new system in April 2009 and also a dehumidifier. This is OCEANFRONT property. It came with a 10 year Compressor, 10 year Parts and 1 year labor warranty. It was "5 YEARS after the original installation" before a service call was needed for his heating & air system, this is proof of a good installation. We install the systems. We DO NOT make them. In April 2014 his condensing unit (copper tubing) sprung a leak due to corrosion. The homeowner was advised of the repair cost and what was not covered by his warranty (refrigerant is never covered and labor is not covered after the 1st year) the repair cost was approved prior to service by the homeowner. (Standard company policy). We repaired unit. April 2015 (6 YEARS from the original installation) we received a call that the unit was not cooling. A compressor circuit failed. We advised homeowner of the repair cost .The cost was approved by the homeowner. We made the repair, the compressor was supplied under warranty. 2 months later June 2015 we received a "not cooling call", we found a fault in our repair .We repaired it at NO CHARGE to the homeowner. The dehumidifier was covered by a 1 year manufacturer warranty and when it needed a new expansion valve in August 2010 (out of manufacturer’s warranty) we repaired it. We wrote off the cost for the part and the labor. We have no record of a cracked drain pan, we do know that the homeowner was never charged for a cracked pan. It might have happened during the original installation of system? We cannot say as we have no record of that or any recent call stating any dissatisfaction from the homeowner. Most of our customers have the owner’s cell phone # and if they don’t all they have to do is request it. Our Service Dept Manager is always available. We have elaborate software to track our calls and we are sorry if we missed a call and we are sorry this homeowner is displeased. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and that is why, we answer our phones and when service is requested we respond promptly. We always give our customers upfront pricing so there are no surprises. Again, we do not make the equipment .We service it. We do not have any control over what is and what is not covered by a manufacturer’s warranty and unfortunately for the homeowner sometimes that means out of pocket expenses."

The service was almost immediate which was great.  The technician came early the next morning and diagnosed the problem, then after calling us and getting the ok to fix the unit, he fixed it within the hour.  Great service from the office to the field.

"We responded to a request for service on June 17th at 10:30 am. The tech was told by Mr. [Member name removed] that his outdoor fan motor was stopping intermittingly, he also stated the fan motor and capacitor was replaced by someone prior to our visit. Our Service Dept manager even called the manufacturer to verify the right size motor was installed. Our technician was at Mr. [Member name removed]’s home for 1 hr. and 28 min and did not witness what Mr. [Member name removed] described. Our technician checked Freon levels and capacitors that run the outdoor fan and compressor. The tech found no problems and DID NOT suggest or price any repairs. The tech left at 11:58 to go to his next call. Mr. [Member name removed] called and said the unit was acting up again. Our tech returned to Mr. [Member name removed] home and found the compressor stopping because of a thermal over load. (Over heating). The tech found no apparent reason for this to occur. Mr. [Member name removed] stated his unit was 10 yrs. old and he wanted to replace it. Our company responded to a request for an estimate to replace the heat pump. The owner of Carteret Heating met with Mr. [Member name removed] for about 1 hr. measuring windows and walls and insulation values to calculate the heat and ac loads. The air conditioner did not show any symptom’s that Mr. [Member name removed] described while the owner was there. The owner spent 2 hrs. preparing an estimate and load calculation. We found Mr. [Member name removed]’s system was undersized for his home. We provided this information FREE of charge with no obligations. We never quoted a repair to Mr. [Member name removed], he told us he was not interested in repairing his system. We are confused by his grade on our quality as we sold him NO products. We only provided what the homeowner requested. We did visit his home 3 times. Our compensation for 5 ½ hours labor was $41.30."

After (6) service calls in (2) years, CHC installed a brand new compressor within (1) day and as seamlessly as possible. However, it was their actions before the purchase and installation that encouraged us to continue give them our business.
Service: Hands down, service is CHC's forte - and something that every customer should weigh heavily into their decision-making. As stated above, they have provided our household with approximately (6) service calls. Unlike many other ENC businesses, CHC answers their phones and wants the business. It's our opinion that some technicians are more highly skilled than others (or rather more attentive to detail), however, most of the technicians that we've had are top notch.
Sales: Working with the estimator was relatively considering he answered a plethora of questions after we did extensive research about the unit. ENC is not the place to go cheap on a heating/cooling system. Carrier is the equivalent to a Honda in the car world. It's relatively expensive, however, you get what you pay for so long as its maintained. There were occasional miscommunications, but nothing that prevented us from proceeding to do business with CHC. He was also willing to negotiate which was a plus! [We have elected not to disclose the price.]
Installation/Service: Installation team was on-time, paid strict attention to detail (including cleaning), and was also thorough. Wires and pipes were tied down, circuit board was installed in its PROPER location, and the outdoor compressor was balanced and fixed to the platform. They even brought the very best of the service department to finish up the job.
If you're in the market for service, installation (heat pump or geothermal), or even just a preventative maintenance plan, do your research first, and then be advised that CHC will always have our highest recommendation.

"Her systems were out of warranty, she had no routine maintenance performed on her equipment. We made 2 trips to her property after she called ( At no charge). 1st our Service Technician went and saw no issue.Then our Service Department Mgr. and the Owner of our company went to the homeowner;s property .After an on-site inspection we found there was no water leaking from our lines or equipment, and the ceiling stain was no where near our lines or equipment. We are sorry she had damage at her property but it was not caused by our equipment or installation."
