We bought our new house 22 years ago. And from the start, we had problems with our heating & air. The first year we had repeated service calls from the installer of the system trying to fix it. After the warranty period was up, we went through numerous other HVAC guys trying to find someone who could keep our systems running. By shear luck, we found Tim Wood with Red Hot and Cool. He has done our heating and air work for years now. He is the most honest, hard-working, knowledgeable guy you're ever going to find to work on your HVAC system! He found that the system needed freon and got it up and running quickly. I also asked him to check out the other system while he was here, which he did. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

First of all, Tim is a very nice man. Now days this makes a big difference. Second of all, he is honest about the price and what needs to be done. He doesn't try to sell me something I don't need. His prices are fair, his work is of high quality, and he is always punctual. When I do get my new HVAC I will be kind of sad because I won't have him around much anymore. I don't hesitate to recommend him to anyone else!
*Also...three other people on my block use him as well. We are all in agreement that he is wonderful!

Our home has two HVAC units, and both of them are reaching end of life. One of them died recently.
We got 3 different opinions/estimates, and we selected Red Hot and Cool on expertise, trustworthiness, and price. Tim and his one came over, confirmed there was nothing that could be done to resurrect the dead unit, removed it, and replaced it with a new one all within a couple of days. He also identified and fixed a problem with the duct work that was limiting the performance of the last unit. Really happy with how it's turning out and grateful for how quickly he was able to get the job done. I'm most appreciative of his attention to detail and trustworthiness. Provides real peace of mind.

I first met Tim Wood probably close to 15 years ago. At the time, I was extremely frustrated with the heating and air problems that I was having and my inability to find anyone who could fix them. By some miracle, I found Tim! He is the most honest, knowledgeable tradesman I have ever dealt with. No, I'm not a relative, best friend, or anything else (other than a COMPLETELY satisfied customer!). You don't have to worry that he'll try to sell you an expensive replacement system. If a unit can be repaired, he'll tell you so and then a charge a reasonable amount to do it. I just cannot speak highly enough of him.

They were very professional. They were willing to work with us on price. He used the probably most conservative method to fix our air conditioner which we appreciated. I have used him in the past and so we are returning to him because we are happy with his service. He was honest. He provided us with the cheapest option.

He's terrific! He spent about an hour investigating. He sat there and smelled it, too. He was not able to locate any specific problem, but the blower would stop working eventually if there was a problem with it. Since it did not he just told me to keep an eye on it and he would come back if anything changed.

When we found out that the wiring in the house we were buying had aluminium wiring from our home inspector and that the outlets had been changed and that copper wire had been connected to the aluminium wire with with wire nuts and he recommended that we should have a licensed electrician look at them to make sure they were correct. So after getting an electrician referred to us by our real estate agent we had him look at the wiring in the house and he recommended that we get the wire nuts replaced with ones that were up to current electrical codes for copper to aluminum wiring. So we had him replace the wire nuts on all of the copper to aluminium connections in the outlets and light switches and it was a good thing we had this work done since he had found a few wire nuts that had turned black which showed that some of the connections were starting to arc and could have led to a potential electrical fire. So now we have more peace of mind with the electrical wiring in our home thanks to Tim from Red Hot and Cool.

I was having the work done for a townhouse that I own but rent to someone else. They coordinated well with my tenant to schedule the repair. I've had no other complaint about the system. I will get Tim (I think that is the right name) to come back and check the level in the fall as he recommended. I rated a B on punctuality only because I wasn't called when I was told I would be. Once the repair was scheduled, the work was done on time.

He charges about $80 per hour for labor. He replaced the venting coil on my air conditioner. I found a company in Texas that was able to provide the new coil, as the model for the coil was discontinued. He was willing to install this coil for me, but did not give me a warranty as he was not the provider on the part. There were a few more problems with my a/c unit, specifically freon, but he continued to come and service my home promptly to keep my house cool in the 100 degree weather. He is very trustworthy and I would recommend him to others in the Durham area.
