Dr Kristy Moding has always been prompt and extremely professional. She called on the first occasion to say she was runnning several minutes late, which is always appreciated. She and her tech were extremely patient with us on the first visit, because the horses had just been moved and weren't on their best behavior. I've been especially impressed with Dr Moding's concern and follow-up with our mare. When we first rescued her, she was scabs and raw skin all over, due to a severe midge allergy. She was also severely underweight. Dr Moding put us on a course of steroids for the allergy, and recommended some diet changes to help Lea gain weight and have a decent quality of life. You wouldn't recognize the mare now, she's probably gained 300 lbs, and is the most gorgeous bay.
I feel Dr Moding has a 'whole horse' approach. It's not just vet care, it's a relationship. Dr Moding strongly recommended that we get a trainer to work with Lea--as a rescue, Lea had significant trust issues, and was pretty unmanageable for the first vet visit. Dr Moding indicated that she preferred we help Lea calm down and develop some confidence rather than just tranquilizing the heck out of her to get the exam done.
I think Dr Moding is very knowledgeable; she told us in August that Lea looked like she had Cushing's disease--but said she wouldn't test until the Spring, because of hormonal fluctuations that could affect test results. Also, she said it was more important at the time to improve Lea's quality of life becasue of the allergy. When Dr Moding came in May, she consulted with Cushing's specialists to determine how best to test Lea, because we could not take her off the steroids (which would be the common test procedure). Dr Moding made a return visit early in the morning to collect Lea's blood and had it rush deliverd to specialists in New York, and then spent considerable time on the phone again to ensure a proper diagnosis. We'll be in contact with Dr Moding regularly over the next few months managing Lea's medication and monitoring her progress--Dr Moding has asked us to submit photos of Lea after 2 months on the medication, to compare with the photos taken just after the last visit.
During the year, I've called and texted Dr Moding and she's replied promptly, always answering my concerns thoroughly. In addition to her responsiveness, I appreciate it very much that she explains her reasoning for the advice and treatment she provides. She's also terrific about providing education--we've always kept horses at a boarding facility until now; there's alot more to learn when they're in the yard 24/7. She's very concerned about keeping the horses at the proper weight, and told us to get a grazing muzzle for the gelding. She also has us watching the mini-donk's weight carefully, because she says they are nearly always too fat. She also calls promptly with test results.
Dr Moding has never recommended any service that I felt was not necessary--always checks teeth to see if they need care, for example, but doesn't 'automatically' do a floating.
I also want to mention Samantha, the office manager for Triangle Equine. (She is also an equine massage therapist.) Samantha is a treasure, extremely helpful. Just before the annual checkup this year, the Friesian and the mini-donk broke out of their stalls and polished off a bucket of snacks and a small but concentrated package of feed. I was freaking out about colic (the Friesian) and founder and called the office about 10 minutes after closing on a Friday evening. Not 5 minutes later, Samantha called me from her car, and talked me through the situation. She was able to determine that the situation was stable at the moment, and presented a plan. Both vets were out of town for the weekend, but she provided the covering vet's contact info, and told me what to watch for over the next hour and call her back. At the end of the hour, the guys seemed ok. I reported this to Samantha--just to be sure, she asked me to check in with her again the next morning--and she called me before I had the opportunity!
I'm very happy with Triangle Equine, and I would recommend them to anyone.

The process went great! They fit us in to their schedule, came to our barn, and walked us through everything.
