\On time, very professional, thorough, and got us the reports promptly. Nice to do business with.
"Thanks for the good rating Todd. Based on our records, the engineering fee for this project was $500 - which is what we typically charge for a local foundation inspection. Thanks again!"
Jessica Kimes was our project engineer. She is very professional, understand what she is doing, is able to explain everything very well, listened to all of our questions and was extremely helpful. She completed a full scale schematic for us to provide to our contractor who was completing the necessary work. She sat down with our contractor and explained everything she found, explained exactly what she was requiring to complete the work, and answered all of his questions. She even spent time emailing and texting him and us when we had questions or concerns.
She completed a follow-up inspection once our contractors were finished and she found 1 item not completed and required them to return and finish it to her specification before she was willing or able to supply us with the finished paperwork.
She did not come back for a final inspection once that job was done, but upon the word of our contractor, she submitted the final paperwork to us with their stamp of approval and completion.
We will definitely hire them again should we need to.
"I was sorry to hear that we did not meet the client’s expectations for this project - as we strive to meet and exceed client expectations with every job that we perform. We are always happy to answer client questions and perform follow-up site visits in the event that our findings are unclear. To date, I am unaware of any follow-up correspondence from the client regarding our engineering report. In response to several of the issues raised in your review, please see below: 1. The site visit was performed in June 2012 for a total cost of $600.00. 2. The site visit was completed by a licensed professional structural engineer (PE) and an EIT, the EIT of which is an engineering graduate and not a student intern. Both have master’s degrees in structural engineering. 3. We reviewed two other engineering reports that were provided. Both engineering reports noted the cracks in the kitchen and one of the reports specifically addresses the bearing wall support issue stated in our report. 4. You mentioned that our measurements were “erroneous” and “did not make sense” – we use the same standard equipment for every site visit. Any questions as to how we arrived at our measurements would have been gladly explained and clarified. If necessary, a follow-up site visit could have been performed to re-survey the residence at no additional cost. 5. We did make recommendations to provide supplementary floor support to the kitchen due to deflection of the framing members. We specifically stated not to jack, level and shim in the repair plan in order to avoid causing more cracks in the interior as you were concerned about. 6. We are not in business with any foundation company and do not receive any compensation for referrals. We have worked with many of the companies in the area and we provide our homeowners with referrals based on who we believe would be best for the job in question and who would provide the best quality work and fair price."
The whole project went very smoothly and quickly. The permit was granted within 2 days, the work commenced within a week, and the was completed within a few days. The subcontractor was extremely accommodating, professional, clean and prompt. Ron also inspected the work prior to the city inspector to ensure the work was done in accordance with his recommendation.
I highly recommend RB Engineering.
