Julio is a very reliable, knowledgeable, and very friendly guy. The cost was a little steep, but it was a small job and weather conditions were far from optimal. A lower portion of my front porch railing was not properly prepped before it was painted. However, the overall job (repairing aluminum trim/vinyl, painting wood trim) was performed satisfactorily. Would hire again.

I hired Julio Ramos of Proper Home to replace a door that had leaks around where the door was installed as well as repair the leak. When Proper Home finished their work I had what they claimed to be was a door that was leaking, as well as STILL l, had leaks around the installation of the door. This was not the problem...I am not an unreasonable person, I was fine with giving Julio Ramos the opportunity to make it right... I understand that perhaps Julio could have missed something or was not able to identify the source of a leak without having rain at the time, but I was constantly assured by Julio Ramos that his work was guaranteed for LIFE and that he would make it right. Julio strung us along for two months before he finally stopped returning our calls or emails COMPLETELY. The week after a week said he had a new door on order, that he was coming but then would reschedule, that he was waiting for an update on the door, etc. Once we finally lost contact completely with Julio Ramos we had to settle the matter in court where his defense was that the door handle we chose was the cause of the issues even though despite the door itself leaking, areas around the installation were leaking worse which had nothing to do with the door or the handle we chose. The court awarded us the return of our money since he did not repair our leak as he was hired to do, installed a defective door that was leaking from the windows on the doors, and delayed attending to our problem for so long that we now have severely water damaged subfloor, water damaged and destroyed beyond use bamboo flooring, and mold. Julio Ramos is a dishonest businessman that does not hold up his word is terrible with communication with his clients and does not keep his commitments. I do believe that Julio Ramos is capable of good craftsmanship and quality of work but consider his character before you risk signing a contract with him. You may get lucky and get good quality of work but if you do not and something by chance does not go as planned he will renege on his promises and possibly leave you worse off than you were before. Finally, he claims the fact that I was under 30 when I went under contract with him (which I was not, I am 30) was his mistake and that he will not do it anymore which I have no idea what that matters. I am a 30-year-old homeowner with a wife and kids and a job where I make money that was used to pay him in full and on his timeline who contracted someone to do a job that could not do it right. So if you are a 30-year-old or younger responsible professional, do not bother contacting Julio Ramos, he does not want your business.

Great work at a fair price. Julio did everything he said he would do, and then some, at the price he quoted and by the time he promised. He took the time to show me exactly what needed to be done. He knows his stuff!

I hired Proper Home after another contractor disappeared in the middle of the project. Julio showed up immediately, diagnosed the remaining work and problems and gave me a fair and reasonable estimate. His crew showed up as scheduled and knocked the job out of the park. Julio also knows how to communicate with customers, which many contractors lack. If he's going to be a few minutes late or there's a change of plans, Julio calls or texts to let you know. I find that to be very refreshing. I recommend Julio and Proper Home Repair and Painting for any job you may have

For starters I only give him two stars for being a nice guy. I had Proper Home, aka Julio Ramos, do two jobs for me. Stain the deck and install crown molding. The first job was okay other than some stain that seemed to end up everywhere, the harder I look the more I see. Overall not the greatest experience but he follow through, made things right so I decided to give him another try. Second job was crown molding in the entire house. Several issues came up: - Final cost did not match the estimate/agreed upon price, his linear feet of molding is nowhere near correct. Under estimated and over charged on linear feet of molding. No discussion of the change. - Timing and commitment. What should have taken a week maybe two took over a month. Forgetting he was coming here, committing to days and not showing up. Not completing the job after starting in consecutive working days which was agreed upon. Not following up and completing some punch work after multiple promises and commitments to do so. - Work. Well not much to be said here other than poor quality. Granted the house has poor drywall but that is not a good reason to not take the time to adjust the corner joints with a coping saw like he said he would do. Caulk was use liberally to improve the joint, good thing we have 9 foot ceiling but when you get a little closer it is very poor quality work. Found over half a dozen nails sticking out. Then move to the painting, paint everywhere. Literally drops of paint on everything. In consistent painting some trim painted less coats than others. - Clean... not a chance. Whatever waste there was, it laid where it fell. Caulk in the carpet, paint on the walls essentially everywhere, saw dust, nails...etc. Show total lack of attention to details, not what you want in finish work. I was told it would be left as found. Not even close.

I would highly recommend Mr.Ramos and his company Proper Home for any project needed.
