Dallas is a good option if you want a reasonable rate. However if you want the work done 'right' and right the first time you may want to look elsewhere.
We used Dallas per a recommendation, I fully vetted him calling all of his list of references - I guess in hindsight no one would give you a bad reference if they hoped to stay in business.... Dallas was responsive and the work was completed on time however the finishing touches left much to be desired, he may be good at roughing out and general construction but trim had major gaps doors had to be rehung, etc
It should be noted that most of these issues I had to surface, it was very tedious to have to inspect his work (and those of his subs) after every phase of the project knowing that there would be glaring problems. Furthermore the sub contractors he employed as a general contractor (e.g., Electrical and HVAC) were terrible. The electrician left without connecting the new wall plugs to a junction box (aka no power) and again I had to surface the issue - at some points it left me scratching my head as to why I had a general contractor... The HVAC instal was horrendous, yes the work was technically done to code however it was completely unbalanced (some rooms got no air after) and I am now having to hire someone else to redo the work because the 'plumbing' that was installed has ripped from the HVAC unit and is heating/cooling my attic...
Dallas's work was serviceable and probably worth what was paid, however the other work that was done that he managed was horrendous. I would not hire him or any of his subcontractors again. But if you are looking for a bargain and don't care about finishing touches he will suffice.
