I hired them to install a new HVAC unit in January of 2022. Of course as soon as the warranty was up, my unit stopped working in April of 2024. I called them to come take a look at it. I could not get a response. I ended up having another company fix it. That company told me that it was loose wires in the unit that were flapping around with the fan that caused a short in my system. They stated that if the wires were secured properly this would not have happened. I called Phil N. Great to let them know about this and to try and recoup some of my $300 expense I had to pay due to their mistake. I received no call back after several attempts at contact. I would have been happy with an annual inspection to offset my cost but they could not even bother to return my many voicemails

A new Gas Package Unit (GP) and a new Heat Pump (HP) were installed at my residence on 11-11-21. I paid in full at the end of the job. I was inside my house during the entire job as the air handler was being replaced also. No one informed me before/during/or after the installation that there was damage to both units. I even went out and tried to look at the units when they were finishing up the caulking and no one said anything about any issues. The GP has 3 dents (one on top and 2 on sides), multiple scratches on top and sides, one of the rails that the unit sits on is crushed on one side at the front, rain hood has possible rusting/caulking issues, and the gas line black iron does not seem to be replaced to the extent that the original quote stated. I started contacting the owner, Catlin Pruitt, on 11-12-21 about the issues. He scheduled what he called a new warranty visit on 11-15-21 to discuss the new unit installation damage. He told me the office manager had already registered the warranties for the units. I later found out the warranties were actually registered on 12-3-21 after the units had passed the city inspection. On 11-13-21, I received an email from Catlin that referred to the damage on the top of the unit, he stated that the issue was he bought the unit on 10-31-21 and there was a price increase on 11-1-21. I did not understand what that had to do with me since I was quoted a firm estimate for 2 new units. At the visit on 11-15-21, Catlin offered to order to a new top for the GP under the warranty (although when I contacted Goodman 8 weeks later, I was told there are no claims on the warranty). Also, he offered to get touch up paint. He made one dent less notable on the GP and said he couldn’t fix the rail. Also, he said he couldn’t see any rust on the rain hood and is telling me that is where they laser cut it. The caulk was redone but still has issues. The follow up report from the visit did not mention all of the issues that were discussed. The HP has one dent at the bottom which he said was not fixable at the 11-15-21 visit. It also has an area that has multiple scuffs/scratches. Again, I was offered touch up paint. On 11-15-21, I expressed to him that I was supposed to get 2 new units and felt like I got scratch and dent units. He did not offer to replace either of the units with a new one or offer any monetary refund. He just offered to do what I stated above. He said in his email on 12-7-21 that “We will also try to address cosmetic issues at no charge (like how we are getting you a new top for your GP). I am supposed to have 2 new units so there shouldn’t be any cosmetic damage. If there was any damage to these units I should have been told before installation. If it happened during installation, I should have been told then. After 6 weeks of corresponding off and on with the owner of Phil N. Great Heating & Cooling, Catlin Pruitt, about these issues, I felt like I was no closer to resolving this. He was still telling me he would replace the top, bring touch up paint when the top was replaced, and was then telling me he contacted the Goodman dealer again to see what they were willing to do for any of the issues. I am confused as to why he was contacting the Goodman dealer again after 6 weeks and what the Goodman dealer would have to do with most of these issues at this point. Therefore, I have contacted agencies who deal with consumer complaints.

The job went very well. They were very fast even after working all day, took the time to show me the work that had been done and explained how the new duct lines were configured. They are very personable and customer service based. Highly recommend this small company.

Phil N Great inspected my HVAC system and found no issues. It’s still running well after nearly a year. My prior servicer had said it needed immediate replacement back then.

Based on comments on this board I contacted Phil N. Great to look at the outside air handler for my 10 year old AC system. When my ac was on for extended period of time the outside air handler would get very loud and when it re-started it would make a shrieking sound. I called them & was told that it would cost $75 to diagnose the problem. Last week, Dean from Phil N. Great showed up ten minutes early and diagnosed that the motor on my outside air handler was starting to fail & that he gave me a quote for the job. He also recommended that he perform a maintenance service on my ac-gas heater unit in my home. I agreed to his price & he ordered the part. Three days later Dean arrived for our scheduled service (again 10 minute early) and replaced the motor and performed the maintenance. I told Dean that a "major" ac company had inspected my system 18 months ago (using a groupon special), & informed me that I needed some freon, but my best option would be to replace the whole system. They gave me a $6K+ quote. During Dean's maintenance he sprayed the "filter" on the outside air handler with a hose and some cleaning solution. He then attached a meter & monitored the freon. He said based on the meter the freon was a little low, but the fact that he just sprayed the air handler with a bunch of water was probably impacting the reading. He said that we should wait until after he inspected the inside unit in my attic to check the reading again. After inspecting the ac unit and the heating unit in my attic he checked the freon level and it was fine. He also stated that my system should last another 5 years if I did simple maintenance which he explained. The total price was around $100 less than the original quote because of the cost of the OEM motor for the air handler. PROS: -Very knowledgeable service guy with no sales pitch for for a system replacement or yearly maintenance contract. -Very punctual -Beat original estimate CONS: -They didn't have any fancy graphics on their truck.

The technician found that compressor does not run. And after he open the cover, tested the capacitor, cleaned up some dirty caused by bugs nested in there, then the system start to work again. Then he just charged trip fee $75. Well done -- fast and low cost. Definitely recommend them.

The check up and servicing went very well. We discussed a new option for the furnace filters and had a general discussion of the functioning of the systems and things to look for that might signal trouble. The filter option would allow us not to have to climb a ladder to replace one of our filters. For those of us getting older this could be a wise choice. We were extremely pleased with the service and information given.

Great service, would use again. Heat went out yesterday. I called this morning and a technician, Nate, arrived this afternoon. The issue was resolved quickly and for a reasonable price. I also had to request a specific time frame due to my job, and that was accommodated. Overall very satisfied. Thank you!

Great. I really like the services from Phil N Great. The price was much more competitive than several other HVAC companies. Dean, who performed the repair, was extremely respectful and clear about all the steps required to complete the repair.

Good work. Good professionalism. Technician got part to be covered under warranty by contacting the manufacturer. Only mark off was that he said he would get back to us on a Saturday at the latest. Didn’t hear anything until Monday afternoon. Repair was made quickly once part arrived. We have used them before. Will use them in the future.

Outstanding project management and installation in every respect. Catlin and his crew of two arrived on-time and immediately went to work to deinstall the old A/C unit and replace the two attic fans. The end result was an excellent working system that should lower my A/C electric bill, as well as keep the attic from overheating during the summer months. The work was completed, as promised, on time and at the exact quote price. I was very impressed with Phil N. Great and recommend them to anyone who is considering any cooling or heating project.

I called Phil N Great to do a servicing on my HVAC and also troubleshoot lack of air flow into different rooms. Catlin and Josh performed the servicing in a timely and professional manner. Had to replace a condenser and as I had purchased the 1 yr maintenance plan with them, got 15% off the parts. Both of them were very professional and patient in explaining what they were doing ad answering any questions I had. I would hire them again for any HVAC issues and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Best contractor I have ever hired. I will never use another HVAC company again. They did far more than just replace my AC. They put a new base down for the AC, cleaned up the connections into the house and ran them through a pvc pipe (instead of just a hole) and sealed the area around the new pipe. The ladder up to the attack was loose and they put a bracket on it. This is the only time I have felt I actually got more than I paid for!

Dean did a thorough job and carefully explained all that he was doing (one of our older units needed extra gas). He is knowledgeable, friendly and a pleasure to have around (also nice to know a former jet tech is working on your HVAC!). Response time was spot on with the follow up from my email inquiry by Catlin, to the house call by Dean.

Catlin did a great job in finding the issue, which could have been any number of things, but turned out to be some shorted wiring that had been damaged and left exposed during some previous siding work done on the home. The most important thing needed from someone coming to evaluate an issue like this is that they're honest, and not try and take advantage of a situation that could potentially be turned into a more expensive job. Catlin uncovered and fixed the exact issue that was causing the problem, and charged us a fair price for the work. If we have any heating/cooling jobs in the future, we'll definitely know who to call.
