The care given at this facility is okay, my dogs have always been taken care of. I usually don't have to wait a ridiculously long time to get an appointment and we also have never had an issue with availability to board our dogs. My big beef with this animal hospital is how the charge. Being a multiple pet home, we can really rack up medical bills for just general preventative care. That is something we knew when we adopted our girls and understand that it is not free. We have boarded both dogs there on 2 separate occasions (I really don't like to board my dogs, I prefer to take them with me but not always possible) and called ahead to get a quote. We usually get check ups/ vaccines/ nail clippings ect. while they are in for boarding. Killing 2 birds with one stone, you know. BOTH times we went to pick up the dogs, they have added a large sum to the total. Let me be very clear, we asked for a quote for all services in advance, and they surprise us. They say we signed paperwork that gave them permission and that we had to pay it. It is humiliating to be standing in a busy waiting room with other people after being gone from my dogs and missing them to be kind of held up for extra money we didn't anticipate. If we were to try and really argue it we sound like cheap pet owners. Apparently when we dropped them off, they had me sign a paper for this extra procedure and never told me it would be an additional cost. I thought she was saying it was part of what I asked for. The thing is, I would have probably gotten all recommended procedures done, I would have just needed to do them in separate appointments to break it up. IF it were an emergency procedure, I wouldn't have hesitated and given them the care. I feel humiliated and like I have been taken advantage of.

The cost is for two of them. I am very pleased with them. I think the price is good. It's terrible to say, but they make us feel very welcome. They listen to your questions. They don't trivialize anything. They are very respectful to us and the dogs.

They make an exception for my dog.    They do a good job. They have an isolated room because they know my dog is fearful of other dogs because she is a rescue. They give her a bath trim her and give her a little bandana and send her home.

They remember you, your pets and everything about your pets. They get you in and out on time. When they had to put down a couple of my pets I have gotten the most compassionate letters from them, our vet stood there right along with me. I can’t say enough about her.

Over charge for healthly dog check up.

Northwoods is great.

We contacted Northwoods for care for one of our two dogs based on a recommendation from a friend. We are new to the area and were concerned about finding a good vet. Northwoods fit our dog in the same day as our call based on a concern we had for her health. They treated the issue (hot spot/injury), provided medication and recommended a follow. In addition they provided detailed information as to the potential causes and next steps. They followed up several days after to ensure she was healing and sent a personalized note. We have been extremely happy so far with the service and will be bringing both pets there.

They were great vets for our ferrets, and even our special needs dog while Dr. Dan was there. After Dr. Dan retired the service went way down. The first problem was when we brought out cat in with an abcess in her mouth, the vet did nothing at all, said to bring her back in a few days if it didn't work it's way out. We ended up bringing the cat to the emergency hospital that night, and it seemed that whatever was stuck in her mouth, had gone in from her eye. She needed surgery and lots of antibiotics. We gave them another chance, but we shouldn't have. Twice they called in the wrong prescription strength of our epileptic dogs medication, and within 3 weeks, the dog started having severe cluster seizures. They told us that the vet school hadn't faxed over the latest workups, but they had records of me calling them telling them the vet school had just seen the dog, and they needed to get the records faxed over. They had not bothered with those records in almost a year. This dog also could not get shots, because they caused seizures, this was explained to one of the techs over and over again. She told me they'd have to put our dog in isolation while there so other dogs wouldn't get sick (ok, our dog is the one without the shots). We have to leave the dog there for a levels check, and the tech gives her the vaccines anyway. It cost us over $1800 at the emergency vet that night because she had over 6 seizured due to those vaccines.
