There was loose gravel left all over the yard, the shrubs died within a month and when asked about a replacement was told I did something wrong. The holes for the shrubs were not larger or deeper than the root ball and the clay soil just acted as a clay pot. .
This is a nursery / landscape company, i have used this company for many years, and will continue.
They are not the cheapest but they are probably among the least expensive. By this I mean, their plants rarely have any problems and seem to be of much better stock thus giving a much better showing.
I have also used their landscaping at my house for a couple of major projects. They were very professional and did a great job
They have good quality product, good variety, good people who can help out who have good suggestions. You can take a picture and they can tell you the plant that would work there. They have excellent landscape design personnel, they listen and the landscape is beautiful.
A week later, I noticed one of the plants producing a greenish fruit. Great, I thought. That was quick. Money well spent. I noticed the small fruit were in the shape of bell peppers. I had never had eggplants before, so I didn't think much of it. A week later than that, it was clear. It was a green bell pepper plant. I still had the plastic plant tag under it showing that it was supposed to be an eggplant. I also noticed that the the insecticide they recommended did nothing to eliminate the cabbage worms.
I brought the rest of the insecticide, the "eggplant" plant tag, and the receipts which I had kept for both back to The Garden Supply co. I asked for my money back on the one plant which which they selected for me and was mislabeled and for the insecticide which didn't work. They refused to reimburse me for either of the defective products. They said that I couldn't consume nearly the entire bottle of insecticide and then bring it back. I explained that I used it according to the directions at the recommended rate on 12 cabbages. It was one application. Not a series of applications over an extended period of time. The manager at the store said that she has the same product and she's been using it all summer long on her tomatoes without using that much of the bottle. I asked her if she ever grew cabbages. She said no. I explained that that there's a lot of leaf surface and it requires a lot of liquid. I emphasized again that it was only one application. She refused to reimburse me for it. Also, she said that she would not reimburse me for the mislabeled plant because I hadn't returned it to the store. I sort of understand this as a possible argument. But had I done that, it would have killed the plant. This would have been a waste of a perfectly good plant with fruit on it. Still they refused to reimburse me for it.
While I agree that technically, they could make the case that I did not return the defective product, it would have been a shame to do that to the plant. They had the opportunity to choose in their favor on this point, or choose in favor of the customer. They chose to choose in their own favor.
The Garden Supply Company has always been more costly than other garden centers in the area. I've opted in the past to go with them in many cases because they were more knowledgeable and had better products than most other places. Lately, I haven't seen the benefits. I'm not sure what happened, but the advantages I used to experience for the higher prices are no longer there. But the higher prices still are.
