5 GOLD STARS
I have been going to Creature Comforts for years and feel my dog is in good hands. This last time I went I had an appointment with the newest doctor on board who handles acupuncture, diet, and holistic concerns.
The doctor provided a thorough exam and was very detailed about my dogs back, legs, hips, knees etc. since this was the main issue. They took 2 xrays, explained and discussed different options. The doctor did the one session of Acupuncture.. Very calm and explained everything in detail. My dog handled the Acupuncture well and it seemed to help him a lot.
He has now had his second session and is doing much better. I was very pleased with how my dog was taken care of and would recommend her if your dog needs any of the above services.
The cost was a little over my budget but in all honesty it was comparable to other vets in the area. She was very nice and gave me a discount on the Bordetella and worming RX which was fantastic.
I am pleased with Creature Comforts and would recommend them.
Over the years, Dr. Sigmond has been gracious enough to come to my home when we had to say goodbye to one of our dogs due to an illness that was terminal and causing suffering. She never charges extra for this and it enormously helps the process remain peaceful and as stress free as is possible under the circumstances.
When people ask me what vet we use, I am always very proud to say all of our dogs always go to Betsy Sigmond.
Our dog has had ongoing issues with not eating well, eating grass and vomiting, a loud growling stomach and issues with his stool. It's never consistent for days at a time, but never seems to get fully taken care of. Dr. Betsy created a progressive plan of actions and testing that we will work through to try to get to the root cause of the problem. She has been very responsive by email as the tests have come in. She also consults with other doctors, labs, and universities, which is proving helpful for a situation like ours that has no clear diagnosis. We're just in the beginning stages, but she has already done more than the previous vet we were with and saw on a couple occasions for this same problem.
We went back , took X-rays which did not show any issues, and decided on a two week period of complete inactivity, as I had gotten the dog too active too soon. At the end of two weeks I realized the dog was getting worse. The Dr. wanted to then do an ACTH stimulation test, the only real way to rule out or confirm Addison's (also know as and quot; The Great Imitatorand quot;), but I wanted to wait a little due to cost, a big mistake. I took the dog to my other vet to have her anal glands expressed (I thought that might fix her), and while there had her weighed and realized she had lost 10 pounds, dropping from 62 to 52 lbs. I knew she had lost some weight, but not that much. I immediately called Dr. Sigmon to schedule the test, but her office could not fit me in right away, so I emailed Dr. Sigmon. She called me back, was very concerned about our dog's welfare, and would have done the test within the hour, but I had just fed the dog (it was a fasting test). She then took the dog the next day - a Saturday. She said we would have the results first thing Monday morning.
Sunday morning, Dr. Sigmon kept checking online for the results after I emailed that Penny was refusing all food, emailed me immediately after getting the results, and met me at her office within 15 minutes to begin treating her. I believe if we had waited even one more day, the dog would have died.
Dr. Sigmon did all the right things in the right order, and it was only through my hesitation and ignorance that I almost killed my dog. Subsequent blood work (same tests she did initially) revealed extremely changed values and a very, very sick dog. The Addison's developed after the back injury, but Dr. Sigmon had all potential issues on her radar, including pancreatitis, and she did the proper tests in the proper order. My husband and I are so very grateful and she has earned our business for life. She really cares!
When he had finished he returned with our dog and reviewed what was done, asked if we had any questions and then asked if we needed any supplies. He ordered the needed medications and then let us know that the vet would be in soon.
We waited a bit longer than normal but we where entertained by the in house video screen playing pictures of other peoples pets. Very enjoyable!!
When the vet arrived she was very pleasant and reviewed all that had been done to both of our dogs. She discussed what could be done to improve our oldest dogs weight and youngest dogs bad breath. It was a very nice visit. She did not rush. She offered us more than required time and she was extremely caring.
We really enjoyed our visit and recomend Dr. Betsy and her staff to everyone.
