First, I would like to commend the skill of the technician who found the leak. The tire had been losing only about 2 pounds per month, so it was quite a challenge to find the leak. This was evidently correct, because the tire has apparently not lost any measurable amount of pressure in the last 3 weeks, having the same pressure now as all the others.
However, there were two things about the service that I was less than happy about.
5W30 oil was put into the vehicle, but the Honda owner's manual calls for 5W20 and does not list 5W30 as an acceptable alternative. When I contacted the service advisor about this afterward, he said that this would work just as well and that he uses that viscosity in all his vehicles. Personally, I don't have the knowledge to judge whether or not this is acceptable, but my choice would have been to go with the recommendation of the Honda engineers rather than that of a repair technician, no matter how experienced. I also would very much have desired to have the chance to make the choice myself, since I would be the one who bore the consequences, whatever they might have been. To be safe, I ended up taking the vehicle elsewhere and having the oil changed again with 5W20.
A couple of days after the repair, the TPMS failure indicator lit on my dashboard. I took the vehicle back to Bull Tire, and they re-programmed the system. They had not done this the first time because the system appeared to have recognized the sensor. Having to take the vehicle back in again was inconvenient.
I would consider going back to this business for tires or alignment work, but not for an oil change.
I was very impressed with the professionalism of the entire business. The customer area was extremely clean, and every one of the 3 different people I spoke with provided excellent service. I dropped my car off one afternoon, and picked it up the next morning. The tires seem to be quite satisfactory (although at the time I'm writing the review I've only driven them just to my home). They provided a before/after report of the alignment.
This appears to be a well-run establishment, and I would feel comfortable going back there.
I left my car then in the evening, and by noon the next day they were done looking at it. He determined that the alignment was correct, but that the drift could be fixed if he were able to adjust something in the suspension. Unfortunately, my car does not offer the ability to adjust that parameter. He said he could replace some parts with the type that allow the adjustment, but that it would be fairly expensive. He said that he felt that the drift was fairly inconsequential and therefore not worth the money to have the modifications done. But if I wanted him to, he could do it. This is very similar to the advice of another mechanic who looked at it, so I have reason to believe him.
On the bumping sound in the rear end of the car, it was a very similar situation. He said that they found that one of the struts was starting to wear. Not enough to be a safety issue, but just enough to make the annoying noise. Again, he said he could fix it if I wanted him to, but he felt it wasn't worth the money.
So there were two problems he found which he could have fixed and made a profit on. But he chose instead to skip the profit and advise me against getting them fixed because they were both fairly inconsequential. And for all the work he did, he charged me only $48 . I thought that was a heck of a deal.
