We contracted with Space Builders for numerous projects in Fall 2012.  Two of the larger projects resulted in additional problems and re-doing the work with another contractor.  Space Builders subcontracted with Energy Logic to seal our crawl and attic. 
The crawl space failed in less than a year and was covered in mold.  The attic took 3 years for symptoms to
show.  The insulation was shoddily installed in the roof deck causing mold on the roof deck under the insulation
and other moisture problems.   Space Builders did not remove the old batt insulation or condition the attic when the
attic was sealed, as recommended by others when sealing a space.  We relied on them to know what needed to be done and supervise it.  Or remediate it.  We paid them to do it wrong and we paid to have it done again elsewhere.  They made very expensive mistakes and did not take responsibility.

They were great, really took the time out to come out and do a walkthrough, explain the issues, we went with spray foam as it was the best insulation.  They did give us a cheaper quote with normal insulation.   The job itself took 2-3 weeks and went really well. We are very pleased and the whole house is warmer.  The garage actually is cool now because of all the insulation (the bonus room is right above the garage).  Would work with them again.

We first were given a project manager (Steve) who was great.  I could contact him whenever we had a question and he'd figure it out and get right back to me.  He scheduled around our needs during the 2+ month long project and kept us informed.  We did everything from building a deck to putting up new walls, total kitchen renovation, HVAC changes, electrical, and plumbing changes.  I will definitely use them again when we have another project.

They are great, good people, they actually took over the construction and I have to say, they are very descent people, they are good and there I have no complaint and i'm honest when I say they are great people. I still use them and they are the nicest people, they're just good people and my son is using them. They are good quality, they are not cheap, they are not probably the lowest price but for me, its a good thing, its a good thing to have people that are honest, they are all good.

Submitted in writing a list of what was to be addressed  in a project estimate noting 9 items needing fast turnaround and the remaining items to be addressed in due course.
Firm provided the 9 items very quickly and professionally, with alot of attention to detail - but then they immediately wanted payment for the full fee of $250 even though the estimate only addressed a third of what we had reviewed in detail during a visit.  I offered to pay half, even slightly more than half immediately and that I'd pay the remainder upon completion of receiving estimates for the other items on my list  (which I very much needed so I could map out the project from a budget perspective.)
They insisted the work was complete and I owed the entire $250 for providing the estimate.   In addition, they advised that I would owe additional fees to complete the estimate as follows  "in order for us to give you estimates or pricing for the remaining items on your list we will need for you to first pay us in full for the consultation. Once we receive full payment we will be happy to prepare estimates or pricing for you at our rate for pricing projects, which is  $65 per hour for {xxxxx] time and $75 per hour for my time."
Bait and switch?I don't know about other readers, but I have never been charged by GCs for estimates.  I was, however, quoted the fee up front and because of their reputation thought it would be worth it.   And, I thought that by itemizing what to focus on it would avoid this very problem.
I was mistaken.
This GC is probably best suited to those who don't need to worry about their budgets.

It was as smooth as possible given the extent of gutting and replacing that was done.  A little behind planned schedule but that is typical, and much better than many contractors.

We are very happy with the results. In fact, the French doors and the new built-in shelves they installed surpassed our expectations! They have a talented group of workers who are polite, trustworthy, and can be counted on to do high quality work. The project manager is very accessible, communicates well, and lets you know when workers will be at the house. Everyone showed up at the house on time. They helped us develop good, cost-effective solutions to some of the problems. The company provides very detailed and thorough cost estimates so you know exactly what work will be done and what it will cost. Some of the repairs were done on a cost plus basis and these costs were also reasonable.  We would definitely recommend them to others.

Skilled builders with excellent communication skills -- not a combination you find just anywhere. The owner hires good people and has a solid network of suppliers built over the years. We had a great project manager and we liked all the other workers -- punctual, polite, tidy, good carpenters. Not the lowest bid but what you get for your money is trustworthy, intelligent, courteous, cheerful service.

The building of the porch was a project for 4 months and it was over the summer. They had to take out an old deck. Then they rebuilt the whole thing that covered the porch. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

It went well.

Being new home owners at the time, the guys were very nice to us. They were very professional, and they may have been a tad more expensive, but not having much experience then, we thought it was worth it. Their people were polite, and helped showed me what exactly they were doing, which I appreciated.

I really liked the workers. The estimate was very accurate. The estimate fee was separate and was quite expensive. The estimator is affiliated with them but works independently which makes the estimate more accurate.

They did a very good job. They made sure we understood everything that they did. They finished the work on time and their quality of work was good.

This company was very helpful and professional. They designed the cabinet so that it could be slid out easily if we needed to access the pipes for plumbing problems. They answered all our questions. We did have a slight delay because they were backed-up with work, but the job was finished to our satisfaction.

This company did great work. They were very easy to communicate with, and very friendly. I felt like their pricing was a little pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. I would use this company again although the price was higher than others, but at least I will know what I am getting from this company since I have used them prior.

They were great! I thought they were very professional. The person that came out to give an estimate was very honest and someone came right out to take care of the problem.

The work quality was excellent, including repair and painting of the interior hall to look like new. They were extremely responsive and the project manager always called to let us know when they were coming and kept in touch about the availability of materials and their schedule. They spent extra time to match the exterior paint as closely as possible. Their overhead was high as this was considered a smaller job, but the quality of their work was excellent.

Jeff, the project manager, was very accessible to me. He showed up when he said he would, continued to stay involved while working on other sites, handled my concerns about subcontractors with seriousness, and explained things to me in an understandable way. They have been very good about cleaning up after themselves as well. The work is still going on, but I do not foresee any problems we can't handle.
