2 workers arrived on time, one was obviously very new to the job. The more-seasoned worker did a fine, but slow, job. The new guy did A or B level work, but took 2.5 hours to replace 1 fan. To be fair, the labor rate for the new guy was $40/hr vs $75/hr (after the initial $105/hr for the first hour of work).
Long story short, we were charged 10 hours of labor to replace the 3 fans, not 3 hours. Our bill was just under $700 ($693 maybe?)
There were no complications with any of the fans. No new wires needed to run, etc.
When we asked about the new, improved, pricing no adjustement was offered. We paid the bill, but at over twice the original estimate, I felt a bit ripped off.
(Update: Carol Dixon is no longer working with Bonneville Electric; she has opened her own business.)
That Saturday (11/5), the technician called around 11:00 in the morning, unsure of the directions he had gotten to our home. I confirmed the directions and met him at the roadside to be sure he found the house all right. The technician, Tim, was very personable and professional. I showed him the location, explained what we'd like done, and he got right to work. My wife and I were doing some chores in the mechanical room under the deck where he was working, and he offered (insisted, even) to help us move a dresser out of the shed, which was certainly not in his job description! It was very nice and unexpected of him to offer.
The job took no longer than we expected, and was completed professionally and looked very well done. One of the outlets did not provide power after Tim had left, and when i called him he came right back to check it. He disassembled the outlet, checked it again, and when he put it back together it worked. We were happy to have Bonneville work on our home, and would call them again without hesitation for any electrical work.
"On 5/31 during our first phone conversation we quoted the job at $85 (not $80). After scheduling a site visit and looking at the job we had another phone conversation with you where we explained that because of the eighteen foot ceiling and difficult placement of the chandelier the job could take over an hour and that the cost might be closer to $120. We then scheduled the job for 6/2. According to our records the project took an hour and a half to complete. Our invoice to you was for $115. We then gave you a $15 discount to help compensate for our initial underestimation (total $100). We were not aware that our communication with you regarding the cost was lacking. With our Invoices we do include a request encouraging all of our clients to contact us with any questions or concerns relating to the job we have done for them. We are sorry you did not contact us directly about your dissatisfaction before paying the bill. We would have appreciated the opportunity to discuss and negotiate your bill."
