Wonderfully well. Larry Smith is a real pro. In fact, our condominium HOA has put Above and Below Plumbing on the approved vendor list for the condominium's plumbing needs.

Larry and the guy helping him were very prompt and professional when our water heater went out several months ago. They worked with the tight space that we had and managed to get us an even bigger unit. They didn't know this, but I complete estimates for insurance claims and have a pretty good knowledge of average pricing for services. Their pricing was below average, and the workmanship was very good. Will use them again.

Larry is an excellent plumber and wonderfully reliable contractor. We have hired him before for much more complicated jobs and he did a fantastic job with those. Today's job was a simple one, but, as usual, the communication was excellent. Larry and his assistant were punctual, the job was done quickly, and he only charged us a standard service fee for coming out. We will always call Above and Below whenever we need plumbing work. Highly recommended.

he was able to come earlier than he thought. The drain was really plugged. He used a snake. It was very difficult. The name of the man who came was Richard Wade.

Larry was very clear about what he would do. He was on time, stuck to his estimate, and did excellent work. He charged about 40% of what one of the big plumbing operations quoted. Friendly, efficient, and economical. I highly recommend him!!

"Thanks so much for the great review. Always good to see a happy customer."

Larry is a great guy; he responded immediately and fit us in right away. He recommended the brand for us to buy so that he was ready to go when he arrived. He arrived on time, was very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Ours was a small job but we would not hesitate to hire him for all our plumbing needs in the future. Also, his prices are very reasonable.

Larry did a great, clean, plumbing job for us. He installed a water line and hose for the dishwasher to properly work. Once under the kitchen sink, he noticed that our plumbing had been a little messy - which could explain for the leak we had. He said he had all the parts in his van to replace what he thought should be, and it would cost about $40 more. I said sure, let's make things right. Once he started taking pipe fittings off, he found they weren't even glued/sealed shut - making me feel more comfortable about my decision to replace them. Our leak has stopped, the piping under the sink looks more organized and the dishwasher is working flawlessly.
The only complaint I have is that we were told by Lowe's that if there is a drain hose longer than 8 ft from your dishwaher to garbage disposal that the dishwasher's warranty would be void since the motor in the dishwasher would be forced to work harder to pump the water a further distance. Our dishwasher and sink are separated by a corner cabinet. When Larry came in for the quote, I asked if he could do it within 8 ft (as Lowe's said they could only do it in 10ft) and explained the whole situation and he said, Oh yeah, no problem. This was part of the reason we decided to work with him. Once the job was complete, I asked how long the hose was and he said it was 10 ft. When I expressed my disappointment, he said that he could do it but would have to do it all over again and charge me for the time. I was annoyed since it was his error. But he explained how he set up the hose, that it was gradually moving downward so that gravity would guide the water and not force the motor to overwork. He also showed me how easy it would be to run it a shorter distance if we needed to, since he did all the grunt work already. In all honesty, the way Larry set it up is much nicer looking than had we gone with the 8ft hose, I just worry about the lifespan of my dishwasher. So, I decided to just go with it, since I didn't want to double my cost for repair. So far we've not had any problems, but it's only been running for almost a month. I imagine that if this does become a problem, we'll see it a few years down the line.

Larry is a god guy. He's prompt, easy to deal with, and really knows his stuff. I moved into a new property that had two outbuildings both of which had no water supply. He quickly found the problems and fixed them. I also had him replace several worn out plumbing fixtures in the bathroom and kitchen.

I left a voice mail message for Larry, and he returned my call on the same day. He set up a time to come out and assess the situation on the Friday before the MLK holiday. He noted the fact that the plumbing in our house is quite old and that the job would be complicated somewhat by that fact. He gave us a reasonable (in my opinion) estimate of the time involved (half a day) and the cost (roughly $300 for parts and labor), and he set up a time to come out on the Tuesday after MLK day. Larry called that morning before the appointed time of 10:30 a.m. to let me know that he was running about 15 minutes late, and he arrived not long thereafter. He completed the work in the estimated time, and the additional $40 was added because of him addressing a couple of minor leaks that became apparent while he worked on the main repair job. He cleaned up behind himself, and he gave me the option of recycling the old pipe myself or having him take it with him (I opted to recycle it myself). We are very pleased with the quality of his work, and I can say without hesitation that he was very pleasant and professional at all times. I would give him a very positive recommendation, and I intend to have him back to help us address some of our "old house plumbing problems" in phases over the course of the upcoming summer months.

Larry Smith of Above & Below Plumbing was the first plumber to return my call and show up for an estimate within 24 hrs. He gave me an estimate of approx. $720.00. He was also willing to work with me as a solo DIY'er (middle age female), knowing full well I was doing the full demo from plaster walls to full subfloor and removing wall containing bathtub/shower plumbing lines due to long term leakage and rot.
I did get two other quotes for exactly the same work from highly rated plumbing companies on Angie's List...those quotes were $1700.00 and $2500. Obviously the difference was enormous and my budget was tight.
I chose Larry not only for affordability, but also his professionalism, responsiveness, and easy going demeanor. I honestly would have been leary of the low estimate had it not been for his personality and honesty in explaining the scope of the work and the affordabilty and ease of PEX. Larry came the first day and I had only half of the subfloor out (many issues with installing 4x8 sistered joists and a cast iron tub that took back-breaking effort to remove with a sledge hammer) he managed to replace the existing water lines to PEX, cap off the old bath sink lines and run the new one to new location in prep for subfloor, and prepped new tub (still in box) with new waste drain pipe. His second and last day of work found me short of readiness...I had not yet rebuilt the framing for the wall that was to contain the bathtub/shower lines, and though I had the tub in place, the ledger board was not properly installed. While Larry was to work on other things, I assumed I could knock out that framing in a snap until I realized I didn't have the proper screws and would have to use others with flathead tops. After 20 mins. of pathetic effort, I realized I could not continue with the incorrect tools and my throbbing, swollen hand (result of 5 days of demo). I am eternally grateful to Larry for graciously offering to frame the wall and install the bathtub ledger board properly...I was near tears and fully prepared to be without the ability to bathe at home for several more days than the two I had planned on. He got my bathtub/shower functioning so I could at least bathe until I can install cement board, tile, and drywall the room. The vanity water lines and it's waste pipe are in place til I can install the vanity and sink. He gave me directions on putting the waste pipe connections for the sink and wrapped up the job.
The new water lines are fantastic and hugging the joists in the basement in contrast to my old PVC (non schedule 40) that sagged from the rafters and had been failing at various joints the past couple of years. It is neat in appearance, allowed more headroom, and my basement is dry for the first time in 9 months. His work is professional, works efficiently, and is patient in answering questions.
. He went "above & beyond" stepping in to frame my wall and did it in the spirit of a helping hand without the attitude that it was obvious I did not conceive the scope of the work I had undertaken in my unrealistic time frame.
Great service, the rare fair price, and pro work.

Prompt and cordial. I felt his charges were very fair. He arrived originally to only replace the wax ring. On removing the toilet he found the mounting phlange was broken. Before replacing it he showed me and asked if I wanted to replace it. We purchased a new one, he installed it quickly and cleaned the area he was working in before leaving. I would reccomend him.

The problem in the kitchen was fixed very quickly. After some investigation of our plumbing system (and we have a 100 year old house with lots of odd plumbing and wiring) the problem in the bathroom he finally figured out was not a plumbing issue at all, but an electrical wire connected to the wall outside the house that was rubbing up against a tree limb -- and the vibration was telegraphing into the wall, causing the groaning sound behind the toilet. What I really appreciated was that the was honest and helpful. Another plumber might have recommended I tear out the wall and redo all the plumbing in the bathroom. Larry took his time and ultimately found the real source of the problem and just charged me for the call.

Larry Smith, the owner, responded promptly to my telephone inquiry. He explained that his usual rate was $50 / hour. I explained the work that needed to be done and we agreed upon a day and time. He arrived on time. The work took two hours, which included some time to travel for parts. He answered my questions and explained what needed to be done. I was pleased with the work and the hourly rate was very reasonable--less than half of what some others are charging. Larry was a very likable, low key kind of guy. I would not hesitate to recommend Above & Below Plumbing and plan to use them for future plumbing needs.

Larry called when he said he would, came when he said he would, charged what he said he would and he was nice to work with. He had some mud on his feet from a previous job; he took his shoes off outside to keep from tracking mud indoors. After seeing the tracks he left on the walkway, I am glad he did!
