We were finally forced to make it happen in 2015, when the ?25-year? shingles started leaking at 20 years (we?d experienced unusually good service life, we discovered). So with the threat of disappearing state and federal tax credits on solar PV panels to generate electricity for our house, we decided it was time to install new roofing to stop the leaks, and in so doing, to provide the necessary infrastructure for PV. We narrowed it down to a very few roofing contractors after scouring websites, friends and other resources, but amazingly (to us), only two actually came to the house and surveyed the job. Our preferred vendor was one of them ? Mark Stith, owner of RoofCrafters. A sales representative from another highly regarded, big-name roofer came to our house, measured, left samples and compiled copious notes, but never followed up, despite his promise to do so. Too much difficulty? We?ll never know, nor do we really care. In October 2014, Mark embraced the challenge of our house, admitting this was more than he had encountered in his 25 years of roofing. But he relished our throw-down, and took the job, honoring our request that because we were doing some financial juggling, we didn?t want to start the project until mid- to late summer 2015. The work started in June 2015, which, unfortunately for the roofers, turned out to be an especially hot time, with temperatures hitting 100-plus several days. But RoofCrafters showed up every day. Incredible heat, incredible challenges. Mark and his delightfully efficient and courteous crew crafted a fabulous roof for us, on schedule and on budget.
We?ve waited to post this review until we?ve had at least six months of experience with this roofing system so it might be meaningful. Bottom line: we?re confident in recommending RoofCrafters as a truly reliable, top-quality company. We now delight in hot North Carolina sun, rain, and crazy North Carolina snow, hail and sleet, knowing that our home is well protected and that we can enjoy the sounds on our metal roof (it?s really not loud, as some might expect ? it?s just nice). It?s aesthetically right for our home and our setting. It has been great, even through a recent mid-January 2016 ice/sleet mess. And, as Mark predicted, it?s been even cooler inside the house on really hot days. We?re truly relieved that we hired RoofCrafters for our metal roofing project, and recommend Mark Stith without hesitation as a detail-oriented, delightful-to-work-with, highly intelligent roofing professional. He?s the founder of this company, yet he has been actively involved in every aspect of the crafting of our roof. So have we. That?s rare. Thanks to this partnership, we have a relationship that we cherish, and the best roof possible."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/nc/pittsboro/roofcrafters-reviews-336911.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"NORATO ROOFING & CONSTRUCTION CO INC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NC","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Meadow D."},"reviewBody":"We had to have the roof repaired after another company did a really poor job. This company was helpful to my needs. They were professional, responsive and concerned. The project took two days to complete. The first day repaired the leaks on the cents on the roof and replaced shingles. The second day was to repair the damage done to my ceiling. Great care was given to...

This company installed a TPO roof on my house last year. The work had obvious flaws from the start that the company repeatedly refused to take responsibility for. For example there were gaps between the edge of the roofing material and my brick parapets that I could stick my fingers into and...

Nathan was very responsive. The first day he was scheduled to do the roof was very windy so just the deck and walkway were done. He came back the next day to do the roof/shingles. I was not able to be there so he took pictures on his phone so I could see the results. He explained that the...

When we designed and built our Orange County, N.C., timber frame house in 1995-96, we couldn?t afford metal roofing or solar electric photovoltaic (PV) panels, but we wanted both, for many reasons. We had to go with quality profile shingle roofing on our 12/12-pitch roof and hope we...

"They did an awesome job. Two guys spent 5 hours washing windows, screens, casements, and outdoor lights. They also cleaned out the dryer vent. That was the one thing I thought was overpriced. Everything else was priced reasonably. The windows and casements are really clean. My windows shine, and the best part of it is, I didn't have to do it! They cleaned the edges of the glass as well as the center--everything sparkles. I actually couldn't be happier. I also liked the fact that they spoke English as a first language. I could understand them when they asked me a question, and that has become important to me in dealing with many workers over the years whom I have found difficult to understand."

FAQs for roof ice and snow removal projects in Butner, NC
Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.
While it is possible to remove snow from your roof without a professional, we don’t recommend it. Accessing your roof can be a dangerous task; pair that with slippery ice and snow that can be heavy to move, and you have a very risky problem on your hands. This dangerous situation becomes more high-risk when there’s a snowstorm or your roof has a steep pitch. To ensure that everyone stays safe, be sure to call a roof snow removal specialist to complete this job with the proper tools and equipment.
While removing every snowflake from your roof is unnecessary, you should remove a significant buildup of snow. Since snow is wet and heavy, it can easily cause damage to your roof, which can lead to needing costly repairs.
Additionally, when the snow melts but has nowhere to go and refreezes, it can create an ice dam, causing mold concerns due to water leaking into your attic and ceiling. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a snow removal professional to clear heavy snowfall from your roof as soon as possible.
Yes, some homeowners insurance policies cover roof damage caused by snow. However, these full or partial payouts can vary depending on the age of your roof and other related factors, like the overall condition it was in before the snowfall. It’s best to check with your specific homeowners insurance policy to determine snow damage coverage and exclusions.
The cost of removing snow from a roof averages between $300 and $700. However, this cost can range from $200 to $3,000, depending on the size of your roof, the amount of snow, and roof accessibility.
Since snowfall can range from light powder to heavy and condensed snow, part of the price of roof snow removal depends on the amount and type of snow. For 12 inches of snow, you can expect to pay between $200 and $2,000 for this job. However, for 24 inches of snow, that price rises to $300 to $3,000.
