They used about $50 worth of bricks and mortar and the job took about 12 man-hours, which worked out to about $200 per labor-hour and no, they were not willing to negotiate. Tony (the representative that I was working with) told me that he owned the company, but he told my carpenter that he worked for someone. He was not willing to give me the name of the owner. He also told me his company doesn’t take credit cards, so I wrote him a check, although on their website (which I later discovered) it says that they do. On a positive note, the mason did beautiful, high quality work, and the bricks and mortar matched perfectly, so I give them five-stars for workmanship. I give them one star each, however, for price gouging, lack of professionalism, and mostly, dishonesty. Despite the excellent work that the mason did, I do not recommend them and will not hire them again.
