I found Mr. Smith to be arrogant, rude and overbearing. He came into my house criticizing it and stated frankly that it wasn't much of a house and had no interesting artichectural features. He began immediately trying to sell me sky lights and other items that I neither wanted nor needed.
After having the subs to my house, it took more than two weeks before Mr. Smith got back to me with estimates and proposals. I questioned him about the estimates and sent several emails with specific questions about the estimates and what was or was not included. He never responded to my emails and days would pass before he returned phone calls.
I checked with one of the subs and learned that the bid they had proposed was $6,000 less than the estimate Mr. Smith had forwarded to me. I questioned Mr. Smith about this and again asked for an explanation of the difference. I felt that I could never get a straight answer from him. Neither could I get dates of beginning and completing the projects. I continued to experience Mr. Smith as being a bully and unprofessoinal.
Finally I sent Mr. Smith an email and told him that I wanted an itemized contract with all of my questions resolved before proceeding with the work. He did not respons to my email and did not call. The next morning he came to my door, did not knock or ring the doorbell and removed his lockbox, leaving my key under the door. I only knew that he was at my door because my dogs barked. When I went to the door I saw Mr. Smith leaving. He never contacted me again after that. The sub-contractor I had spoken with (a very reputable local contractor) told me that he was also rude to them and were glad not to be working with him on this project.

Mr Smith was very professional and always prompt. He returned telephone calls and made great efforts to complete the project in a timely fashion. His work was excellent and was complete with good clean up. His advice was excellent and was tailored to the customers needs, not to increase his sales. He was very honest and I plan to hire him again for any project that might arriise.
