This is an unethical company and the will take advantage of you. Recent job ran over three times the initial estimate with no communication as the bill grew. No written communication provided for any of the growing costs until the final invoice. Job is still unfinished and the work is well below average. There are many other reputable companies in Boone to give your business to, please don't make the same mistake we did.

Met with Chad who provided quote for removal of 3 large hardwood trees. Paid 50% deposit though was a little uncomfortable doing so. Months went by without seeing anyone from Arbor Care. When I called, was given multiple dates that they never showed for. At one point they told me that they had been out there and completed the job. Had to send multiple sets of pictures to prove that trees were still there. Finally they came out when I was away and trimmed, but did not remove the trees per the contract. When I complained, they had the gall to send me a bill for the remaining 50% of the contract price. If you use these guys, I strongly recommend not paying anything upfront. I don't think they are trustworthy people.

On 10/16/2015 ArborCare (Chad Michael) provided me with an estimate to remove a tall pine and prune limbs off the other pines that I had marked on my property. I in turn paid a deposit for the work to begin. That day Chad and I specifically walked the property in which he described a machine that would come and pick up all the fallen limbs or a chipper that would mulch the limbs back onto the property. He even asked me if he could drive the chipper down the path. Not once did he mention that cleanup wasn't part of his pruning estimate, nor do his estimates state as such. In fact, his description of the limb picker upper machine or wood chipper was very misleading. It wasn?t until after he cut all the trees that he then informed me that cleanup was extra by sending me an invoice out of the blue for $3,365.00 in debris removal costs. ArborCare and Chad Michael have business tactics that are very unethical and deceitful. I've owned many homes/properties and have used many different companies to prune trees and shrubs. Not a single one of them pulled the bait n' switch ArborCare does by attempting to charge double for clean up. When you prune a tree you clean it up, guess ArborCare never got that memo. Instead the deceitfully con you into starting a project then attempt to charge you an absurd amount for clean up knowing you can't possibly haul away large debris from your own yard. ArborCares way of doing things is unethical and would be analogous to a painter trying to charge a homeowner for removing tape, washing out brushes, and picking up drop clothes. It?s ludicrous. DO NOT hire these guys. They are the most deceitful and unethical business I have ever had to work with.

Chad, the owner, came out to provide a quote. I requested that he email me the quote, and he never did. He gave me a verbal quote the day that he took pictures of the trees that I told him I wanted removed. He arrived late that day without a viable explanation for the delay. I specifically asked if he was insured, stating that I had used other local contractors with poor results. He assured me that he was both insured and that there would be no damage to my property. We set up a date for him to come and remove the trees, and he never showed up. I had to contact him several times and he promised to be out the next morning if the weather was good. By that afternoon I hadn't heard from him, and because the weather was not conducive to cutting down trees, I assumed he wouldn't be coming. He texted me to inform me that he would be out that afternoon. He showed up and removed a very large tree despite the bad weather. He was to return the next morning to cut the tree into smaller pieces and remove it as well as cutdown other trees. He didn't show up until afternoon, without a call to let me know he would be late again. One of the trees was very close to our house and to a new fence that we had professionally installed. He removed a section of our fence in order to prevent it from being damaged by the tree he was cutting. When he finished cutting the tree, he replaced the section of the fence that he had removed, but the fence was damaged due to his removal of the section. He also was leaving for the day and had neglected to cut down several of the trees that we had agreed upon. When I pointed these trees out to him he quickly cut them down and left them on the property. I also pointed out the damaged fence to which he stated, " iIt was fine the day before." We had not touched the fence, and the damage was clearly due to his having removed a section of it. I gave him multiple opportunities to rectify the situation and to contact his insurance adjuster. He has refused to contact me or even give me a receipt for the work for which I paid him in full. I would recommend that you avoid this tree cutting service at all costs.

Furthermore, Arborcare has refused any communication. Therefore, we hired an attorney and sued Arborcare. We have learned of multiple other lawsuits against Arborcare for doing this exact thing: cutting the wrong trees, cutting the neighbor's trees.; defacing and damaging property. In addition, there are several other lawsuits against Chad Michaels for other matters. The owner, Chad Michaels is an unlawful person. He has no conscience. He has no morals. He has no right owning a business. Never hire him for anything.
Description of Work: Last August/September, Arborcare Tree Service (owner Chad Michaels) was hired by our neighbor to cut down his trees for a better mountain view. Instead Arborcare mistakenly cut down dozens of trees on our property. In addition, they damaged our driveway and left the cut trees, branches, etc. on our driveway to be hauled away at our expense of $1,800. Furthermore, because of the cut trees, our property has sustained serious damages both aesthetically and in value.
