Wow! Arthur knows his stuff! He is an impeccable master of knowledge regarding lawn care. And, Arthur has a true passion for his work. I was immediately very impressed with his level of experience and commitment to providing excellent lawn care. And he wants to educate others as well. In addition to our original presenting problems, Arthur pointed out other issues that needed to be addressed: fungi, moss, etc. He explained that unless we addressed these underlying problems with our soil we were going to continue to struggle with our lawn's health. Arthur took soil samples, arranged for it to be tested, adjusted his treatment to what the lab results showed and we're off and running. Arthur has been diligently removing the silver threaded moss growing in some areas and is planting fescue seed to replace it. We're only a few months into our lawn renovation project with Arthur but I'm confident he is getting things under control. He is also advising our new lawn maintenance service on how and when best to proceed with various tasks that need to be done. Arthur is a true gem!

I hired Arthur’s Lawncare to replace patches of Bermuda sod that was growing inside my Zoysia sod. His approach and explanation of the process, overall costs, and timing to fully complete the project were professional, detailed and addressed all of my concerns. He took the time to fully explain, in great detail, the removal and replacement process. He also took the time to explain the various products he would use throughout the removal and replacement process. I would highly recommend Arthur’s Lawncare Service for any sod replacement services.

I had several estimates before Arthur. I went with him because he did things that the others did not even mention. He tested the soil, other's did not, he killed all the dead grass, others did not, he tilled the soil, other's did not, and then he laid the sod. He told us how and when to water it, what to put on it if we saw a dry spot, and also gave us some stuff to put on it if a dog or animal used the bathroom on it. He came out a week later to check on it, then called to see how it was doing, and said he will com out again in a week or so. None of the other's offered this service. He is truly a professional, and I would recommend him to any one. This was all done in North Myrtle Beach where the soil is sandy and it's harder to grow. Don't know what we would have done had we not made the right decision. He does work in N.C. and S.C.

Bad -how did he get on this list? We will not use it again! Shame on Arthur and shame on us for using him

What others are saying in NO way represents the experience I had! The job was to investigate the problem areas, where grass had stopped growing in the yard and determine how to turn around. At first contact via phone, he was VERY talkative attempting to impress me with his knowledge. Ok, great. When he came to the property, he said "we need to do (this) then do (that), and then (this)". Great again. I like a specific plan. But that's where the positive feedback ends. At the next visit when I brought up the things he mentioned before he started the job, the "cat (suddenly) had his tonque" and was unresponsive to any of those things he suggested previously as if he didn't want to talk about them. Very strange behavior! Regardless, I proceeded with having him treat the lawn chemically. Note: the yard had lots of weeds (more than usual). I was lazy and had not applied any pre-emergent weed treatment which usually costs $35. I decided to hire someone else to manage it while addressing the bigger issue. Red flag #1 - Arthur did no investigation (ie, pull up turf section and inspect for grubs or other infestation, take current-state soil samples, determine if the soil was hard/compacted and needed aeration + fert and/or top coating, reseeding, or consider the large tree roots seen in some of the bare spots might play a factor such as sucking up all of the moisture away from the soil, or other steps to eliminate possible "root" causes) but instead, based on "eye balling the yard" only, determined he needed to spray for disease and fungus. These all seem to be reasonable things to investigate first and his lack of motivation to do any of this concerned me but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I wanted to trust his skills. Red flag #2 - I had to "chase" him to find out when he would be here. He said "coming 10-14 days after first application." 21 days later, nothing from him. Had to chase him down for a "why". He blamed it on rain... FYI: He lives about 30 min from me and the weather here can be completely different than the weather 10 miles away but especially between Sanford and Southern Pines! He didn't bother to ask about the weather forecast here. Had not rained all week. Bottom line, I shouldn't have needed to chase him down. He should have provided proactive customer service and communicated with me as to the reason he was postponing instead of leaving me "hanging" and wondering. The BIGGEST Red flag - he asks for money up front! This is the #1 common behavior associated with scammers. I'm NOT saying anything he's doing is a scam, only that his BEHAVIOR is that of a scammer and a very bad business practice. He said he would need the first payment up front because of some chemicals he was using, which didn't make sense to me, but (again) I gave him the benefit of the doubt. At the final application, I was not interested in paying him up front again and had a conversation about the "plan" moving forward for a few minutes then I said, "I'll let you get to it" and began to walk toward the front door, then he actually said to me, "Money! Money! Money!" (to say he needed money first!) I couldn't believe what I heard. Did he actually just say that to me?! Not only was that the most unprofessional behavior but the most immature I've ever heard or experienced. That is a major "tell" and suggests me that his focus is on the dollar FIRST before the needs of the customer!! I don't know how else to interpret that. Bottom line, he definitely killed the weeds but did absolutely nothing for the core problem. In fact, it grew larger after the applications. One would expect it to get better not worse if he had made the correct analysis before starting the job. The last thing he said to me was, "I'll come back in a couple of weeks". That was a year ago and have never heard a peep from him. *I'm NOT complaining about him not returning, just reviewing his lack of accountability and communication. Bottom line, I basically paid $300 to kill weeds (which I could have done for less than $50 while avoiding the hassle and the waste of time and money). TIP: It is a service providers' job to earn OUR business, not the other way around. Never pay up front. In doing so, a provider (in my opinion) is essentially saying to you that they are not confident in their skills and that they won't get paid if they do the work first. If you hire this provider, ask lots of questions (if you want to avoid the experience I had) like "Will I have to chase you? Or will you be proactive and tell me if or when you are not coming and why? Do you focus on the needs of your customer first and on my satisfaction before asking for payment? What is your plan and exactly how much is it going to cost me? Do you have Before/After pics that reflect your work?"

Very pleased with the progress of the lawn. Will be using Mr. Arthur for future treatments.

This job went quite well.

 Arthur has an excellent knowledge of the soil and growing conditions of our area. We quickly determined the type of weeds we had and mixed several chemicals to be applied to our yard with his spraying equipment.

 He also determined the feeding needs of our yard and applied bagged type fertilizer again with his equipment. Since this work was done about 3 weeks ago it is now obvious that the fertilizer and the weed killer worked very well!

As usual Arthur was very quick to our request to determine our needs and with24 hours he was on site to do the work. His machinery is first rate, in good repair and and knowledge and skill are also top of the line.

  He is also very conscious of the average homeowner's budget.

If the need arose we certainly use his services again!

Arthur continues to provide timely, professional yard service.  It has been 2 months since he reseeded our yard.  During the 2 months Arthur has visited twice to inquire as to how the grass is growing and to develop a future plan.  My yard has never looked better.  Arthur assessed that the yard needed another fertilizer treatment during the growing season in order for my new grass to reach full potential.  He applied that application today.  He also mowed areas of the yard in order for me to see the actual height that I should be cutting this grass and to match my  mower blade height accordingly.  He knows what he is doing.  You can't go wrong with Arthur.

I am extremely pleased with the work, I have tried to kill the weeds and grow grass myself, did work killing weeds but they would just come back. frustrated I gave up and called a professional. Arthur knows the area and how to grow grass using the correct chemicals and treatment, He is very knowledgeable with chemical treatment.  Even he himself was impressed at how well the yard was doing in the time frame at the time of the year, He continued to show up every two weeks to evaluate progress see how yard is doing and making adjustments as needed with watering.  currently we have some weeds coming up but have some very nice bermuda grass so now is the time to chemical treat yard to kill weeds and he said the bermuda will fill in nicely,

Once we had the results Arthur set up a plan for 2015 to make my new lawn successful. After a series of treatments to help stimulate root growth, set the PH and other soil components corrected, I have to say I have the best lawn in my neighborhood. It took time and patients but by August 1st it was a beautiful lawn. Arthurs years of knowledge and skill makes him one of the best Lawn professionals I have ever worked with. I have no problem recommending him to anyone.

We knew that this would be a "long-term" commitment. We had a nightmare situation with our lawn, completely overrun by weeds, infestation by fire ants, voles/moles, camel crickets, and, seemingly, beyond hope. We are now about 4 months into this process, the lawn looks better (MUCH better) than it has in 20 years, the insect and mole/vole infestation is gone, and summer grasses that we recently planted are germinating in places that looked like a lunar landscape prior to Arthur's Lawncare Service. He understands the soil ecosystem, applies minimal amounts of treatments (and then follows up and adds just what is needed to get the desired effect), and focuses on customizing the solution based on your goals, your soil type, and the environment (e.g., sun/shade).  He checks in regularly and always responds promptly to questions regarding our care and treatment of the lawn, watering, weeding, etc. In particular, his advice on waiting to mow until the seed heads were mature resulted in a huge leap in the quality of our lawn at ZERO cost to us.

For the level of service that we've received, his prices are significantly below other vendors. We received several quotes prior to choosing Arthur, and none of them could explain the basis for the strategy. In sharp contrast, Arthur approaches this as a series of steps where we evaluate what is needed to continue to make progress, rather than just costing out X number of treatments with no idea as to whether or not the treatments, seeding, etc, would be effective. He costs out each step and, relative to other vendors, his prices are at or below (often well below) other vendors on a unit basis. 

Arthur does all of the work himself, is very responsive, and takes the time to explain what he's doing and what you can do to reinforce the treatment, like waiting to mow until after the seed heads are ready. Grand Lawn Wizard is probably strong, but he has really done an outstanding job with a lawn that was in horrific condition. I recommend him highly to anybody that wants to develop a cost-effective, environmentally sustainable lawn strategy, and needs a variety of services around lawn care and landscaping (e.g., mowing, mulching). We intend on working with Arthur for all of our lawn and landscaping needs.

He is currently treating your lawn. It is going very well he was able to grass growing faster than I expected. I am very impressed! He is very knowledge of the type of work that he does!

Arthur has provided monthly treatments of my yard since April 2015 in order to repair damaged grass (dying and bare spots).  Arthur has applied micro-nutrient treatments, a insect treatment,  a weed treatment and now a re-seeding treatment.  It has been one month since Arthur re-seeded my yard with centipede grass.  He applied the centipede grass seeds as well as "cover grow" and straw.  He provided me with watering instructions and has been in constant contact with me since; inquiring as to how the new grass is doing.  He personally, came by today to check the progress and it pleases me to report that my yard has never looked better.  Based on his analysis of where we are today, we developed a plan for the future which includes another treatment of fertilizer, a vacuum mowing (to get up all the straw and high grass clippings) then another weed treatment at some point in the future.  I could not be more pleased with the results of his efforts.  He gets results.

Arthur has done a great job eliminating the weeds from our lawn, and has greatly proved the overall quality of our grass by creating and implementing a treatment plan specific for us. He is extremely knowledgeable, and is always willing to take the time to share his expertise. He promptly returns all communication requests via phone or email. He always shows up on the day he is scheduled and completes all work as promised.

Arthur has truly been a blessing for us. My family is preparing to put our house on the market, and we were concerned earlier this year because we had no lawn. The area that we're in is filled with clay and sand, and our lot was more sand than grass. It seriously lacked the curb appeal that we needed to get the best resell value. After looking through some reviews, we contacted Arthur. He was very prompt and came by the next day to assess the current condition of our lawn and our options. We were initially looking to sod the entire lawn, but realized that it would be over our budget. Arthur proposed a design that included a mix of sodded and seeded areas, plus some knockout roses and plants along the side of the house to help with erosion. His design was beautiful, functional, and cost-effective, so we decided to move forward.
Within the past couple of months, Arthur has made our yard look better than we ever thought possible. The sod installation and seeding went great, and we had no issues during the delivery of the services. We were initially worried about the sod, as we had requested the services during one of the hottest times in the year. Arthur coached us through how to care for it to ensure the best possible outcome. He drove by our house regularly over the next several weeks and followed up with emails on recommendations for changes to the watering schedule and other tips. When we had questions, he was always extremely responsive and easy to access.
We are beyond thrilled with the results and are excited to move forward with putting our house on the market in the next few weeks. Would highly recommend Arthur to anyone looking for lawn care services...highly professional, reliable, and an expert in what he does.

He's a master at lawn care is the best way to say it. Did the pre-work, put the lawn in, and is now taking care of it and getting it ready for the long term. He's man of his word/ did everything he said he would do and treats his customers' lawns like his own. We would highly recommend him and plan on using him in the future as well

Arthur has been bringing my yard back into health since April 2015.  I live on the coast and have had problems maintaining my combination centipede and St Augustine lawn.  Arthur did a soil analysis and created a specific solution for my yard needs.  Over the spring he has applied weed killer, insect control and numerous fertilizer applications in order to get my yard's micro-nutrients into balance.  My yard is now growing like crazy and today Arthur is re-seeded areas that were previously dead in order to take advantage of the growing season.  He knows what he is doing concerning yard maintenance.  Arthur does what he says he will do and does it when he says that he will do it.  Responsive, punctual and professional.  Although he lives in Sanford NC, he owns a second home in SE NC in order to service this region.  It is refreshing that he does not accept contracts; you pay as you go for only the applications needed.  I give him my highest recommendation.
