About us

Before starting Wagner Tree Experts, Andrew grew up working with his father's tree service, Top Notch Tree Service. While in college studying Biochemistry, Andrew worked as an arborist for Warren Wilson College, and worked maintaining the trees on the college's 100 acre campus. Andrew has also worked for the International Society of Arboriculture in its Educational Goods and Services department. There he help to create educational materials for arborists. Currently, we sponsor local climbers and organizations to promote safe and proper tree care whenever possible. In 2008, we helped to organize the first ever, Warren Wilson College Tree Climbing Championship. Chris Pribisco has worked in Commercial arboricuture, Residential tree work and plant health care, as well as Utility clearance. Chris joined us as a partner after bringing his business Black Mountain Tree Care together with Wagner Tree in July 2009. I was on their and quot;drop by and do the work wheneverand quot; list. They have provided services for me in the past. They do wonderful work. Andrew is very knowledgeable about trees and I appreciate his honest advice. They cleaned up well. The staff who came to do the work were friendly, worked quickly and efficiently, and seemed to enjoy their work.

Mr. Wagner was generally not easy to establish contact with. The slash resulting from his work was not all removed - I subsequently discovered several sections of pruned branches behind some shrubbery adjacent to the driveway, which I removed. He advised me that some trees (fruit) were in need of spraying to control insect infestation, and agreed to do so, but never accomplished that project. Those trees ultimately suffered, possibly as a result of not having been sprayed for whatever was affecting them.

My view is that I did not receive fair value for the services I paid for.

"Thank you for your review. I wanted to first apologize for the disconnect last year and that we never got to spray your apple trees. I assure you the apple trees are no worse off this year than last, and spraying trees was almost an impossibility with all the rain we had. In order for the spraying to be effective, we needed a minimum of 24hrs of dry weather to assure the treatment didn't wash off, and the rain persisted almost everyday. I would be happy to try and spray them again this coming year. Also, I do want you to know that you received a great value for the work we did. We had a crew of four climbing arborists at your home for three whole days, and we only billed for a 3 man crew! I do not recall any limbs being left on site since we removed almost 5 truck loads of wood chips, but if we did, that was our mistake. If you would give us a chance to help you again in the future, I would love the opportunity. I hope your first full year in Western NC has been overall a good one."

Andrew sets the bar when it comes to dealing with service professionals. From the the initial inquiry, to the estimate for services, to performing the work, Andrew (and his crew) were prompt, courteous, competitively priced and did a fantastic job! Andrew took the time to explain what work was necessary, and how he would go about the process. I cannot say enough good things about Wagner tree Experts!

We just purchased a home with a very large pine very close to the house. Andrew met us at the property and walked us around each tree giving us a detailed assessment of its health and his recommendation for care. He and his crew were on time and very professional . Trees were removed with care and all debris was cleared away before they left. Our neighbor was so impressed with their professionalism that she asked me for their contact information as soon as they left. We plan on having Wagner Tree Experts maintain the trees in our yard on an ongoing basis --- I feel confident that we will have healthy, happy trees in our yard as a result.

We had a tree fall in our backyard. It was quite unexpected as the tree appeared to be healthy. Andrew from Wagner's told us that it had root rot, which is what caused it to fall. The fall happened on a Saturday afternoon. Based on the positive recommendations on Angie's List, I called and Andrew came by an hour later, assessed the situation and gave us an estimate. He also spoke with our neighbors (the tree had fallen into their lot) and let them know the situation and when he would be by to fix the damage. He arrived, as scheduled, promptly on Monday morning and finished the work by Tuesday afternoon. As I was unable to be at home for some of the time he was working, he kept me informed of his progress with phone updates. Andrew is professional, responsive and knowledgable. We will have him back to do additional work on our trees in the future.

You had a good, healthy tree with a common defect, and the cables we installed allow the tree to move freely but not excessively, which will encourage the tree to continue developing strong reinforcement wood. The guys at Wagner Tree Experts are wonderful! They are professional and know their stuff. From our first consultation to the day the tree was removed they were great to work with. They did an excellent job, their rates are reasonable, and we would use them again!

Andrew and his crew drove over from Asheville to help with this dead pine we were very worried about. He has done quite a bit of trimming for us before. He said the pine was too dead to climb in, so he climbed out of another tree. We were very impressed by how careful he and his crew were about keeping limbs off the lodge and away from each other. They did a great job as always. I really appreciated them coming all the way from Asheville, which is where they operate now. They used to work in Maggie Valley all the time, and we miss them here.
