Well-Loved Piano

Super! Well-Loved Piano and Rich Goldberg are world-class. Customer service is not dead here! He does an excellent thorough job every time he comes! My piano has NEVER sounded this good! And that is the honest truth. These people give their VERY BEST every single time.

Today (Friday, October 1, 2021), Rich Goldberg tuned the new addition to my home. When I purchased my NEW Yamaha P2, I decided to stick with Well Loved Piano to service my piano needs, because of past satisfaction. I am a repeat customer and will again use Rich to service my piano 6 months from today. When the tuning was complete, Rich played a little tune that I would have liked to share with other reviewers, but this site does not support video uploads.

I wouldn't trust my 139 year old piano to anyone but Timothy Barnes. He clearly loves pianos and loves his work. A total professional!

Wow!!! What an amazing transformation! My expectations were exceeded far beyond my imagination. I did not realize that the ability to create such beautiful music was hiding deep inside my piano. Tim spent the day with my Kawai upright (which had gone thru 6 moves in the past 6 years) voicing, regulating, and tuning. He did an amazing job ---magic!! The touch and tone are awesome. Tim brought it back to life and then some! It is so exciting to practice and play now---- to hear the beautiful sounds and the feel of each key/note as it gives exactly what I ask of it. Difficult to explain but excellent to play! Thank you Tim & Well Loved Piano. Your dedication and customer service are exemplary.

Tim Barnes does not work on pianos because he gets paid; he works on the piano as if it were a precious creature that he is molding and shaping into a thing of beauty, even if it wasn't beautiful to begin with. He is an artist who sees a combination of the Statue of David, a Beethoven sonata, and the voices of a choir of angels inside every piano. In the 30 years I have owned the piano, I have never had a tuner totally take piano to bare bones and clean top to bottom as well as tune. Attention to detail and quality was amazing.

Everything was pleasant in the process. Scheduling was an easy online process. I received several email notices that the date was approaching and the cancellation policy. The technician arrived on time, spent several hours cleaning and tuning up our 80 year-old upright, and made several suggestions regarding possible repairs.

So smoothly, it's like I had been working with them for decades. Kimberley was crazy efficient, smart and capable. She completed all work within 2 hours, cleaned everything up, and did everything well. I look forward to using them for years.

She was very thorough cleaning and taking things apart as she needed. Very knowledgeiable and personable.

Tim from Well Loved Piano (fka Barnes Piano) is very knowledgeable and always professional. He looked over our upright Yamaha and provided an estimate of the piano's worth, tips on where/how to sell it, and information on using a broker. He is also providing a report on the state of the instrument (condition, tone, etc), including what needs to be serviced. I was disappointed to learn that in NC, official appraisals are performed only by people who know nothing about pianos, so when I try to sell my piano, all I will have is the estimate given but no formal document.

The challenge is they didn't really do anything. They said the piano is too broken to be tuned up. So they technically didn't do any work but they took it apart, looked at it so I have a hard time grading. I wouldn't blame them for that but at the same time, they didn't do anything.

Tim not only took the time to explain to me the fundamentals and importance of tuning a piano but my 5 year old was drawn in immediately by his passion. She started playing since the age of 3 and I think her excitement in learning the piano only grew after meeting Tim. We look forward to working with you and your team for years to come!!!! And the piano sounds PERFECT!!!!

Tim was extremely polite, efficient, and a very clear assessment of our piano's condition. He was very candid about our options, the services needed to fix the piano, and cost benefit of fixing vs. getting another piano. I appreciated his in depth knowledge and at no time did I feel he was trying to upsell/promote his services. In fact, I felt he was looking out for my best interests with recommendations on next steps, including referrals to piano dealers. I would highly recommend Tim to anyone with a piano or looking to acquire one!

Tim called at 8:30 to say he was sitting in traffic so would be slightly late for our appointment, which I truly appreciated. When he arrived, he did an initial assessment of my piano, asking how long I've had it (18 mos), who plays it and how much, where did I get it? After about 15 more minutes he called me back in, told me all about my piano: how old it is, the style of the case, the condition it is in now. He told me what he needed to do to get it up to snuff and how much that would be. I agreed and he went to work. He spent a few hours going about his business, showed me what he had done, and taught me how to take care of the humidifier pads myself so that I would only need a visit from him yearly. I can't say nice enough things about Tim, and every single contact point in the process was precise and professional. If every business ran like this, life would be much less stressful. I'm already scheduled for next year.

The lesson is to be sure you have a piano checked out before you pay to have it moved, as the damage is hard to find and can cost more than the value of the piano. There is really no "free" when it comes to pianos. You must pay to have one moved, and to have it tuned. There aren't many knowledgeable technicians around. I appreciated Mr Barnes taking the time to explain everything and help me decide what to do. I will definitely contact him with my next piano.
