Again, they built the house. I think Ryan Homes is also known as NVR, that's the Ryan Homes I'm talking about, specifically here in Charlotte. The two guys who have been in charge are Jesse and Jerry, and they're FANTASTIC.
The home was very well built. I'm not an expert, but I can tell that they didn't cut any corners. What has prompted this review is the way they are helping me solve a huge problem. So, before the toilets were installed some jerk (we think one of the painters) put a big piece of wood in the plumbing pipe for my master bath toilet. Hence, when I would flush an upstairs toilet sewage would go into my master bathtub. The horror!! So, I contacted both the service manager and Jesse, and I couldn't believe how quickly and thoroughly they responded. They sent out the plumber right away (within about 2 hours of calling them), and the plumber in turn called in reinforcements (3 more plumber guys). There was a giant clog, caused by the big piece of wood, in my ceiling/floor. It was a horrifying disaster. Sewage everywhere, holes cut into the wall, moving my things out of the house, etc... The city even had to be called because there's a backup at the city access. It was surreal! Both Jerry and Jesse oversaw the whole plumbing disaster yesterday, which was so reassuring to me. Today, Jesse met me at the house this morning (I slept at Mom's last night) with a punch carpenter and restoration crew. They removed my microwave (sewage came down in and around my microwave - words can't describe the scene yesterday) and the cabinet, and will give me new ones of those. The restoration crew really disinfected everything and applied mold inhibitor everywhere (floors, walls, the driveway - yes, sewage spewed onto the driveway from my house). They also checked for moisture inside the walls, and would have pulled out and replaced dry wall and installation if that was needed.
Throughout all of this Jesse and Jerry apologized over and over again, and assured me they would make this right. They are in fact making this right and this is not their fault. They can't stop every idiot who is going to stick a big piece of wood into a pipe. They way they are fixing everything must be eating up any profit they made off of me, and yet they are doing everything possible to make sure my home is clean and in good working order, and that I am happy.
If you're looking to buy a home in Charlotte, NC, I would buy a Ryan Home (a.k.a. NVR). I don't think I'd mess around with any other builder, because most of them do not honor warranties like Ryan Home is clearly doing. I would buy another Ryan Home without any hesitation!! I really can't believe how good they are being to me, after all the horror stories I've heard and witnessed.
By the way, my house is beautiful - I love it!!
