There were delays, there was a lack of communication, and nothing was finished. I was charged a few thousand dollars and treated like an inconvenience. I will have to pay to have a lot of the work redone and they are refusing to give me my money back. They claimed not to have cleaned the house because the water wasn't turned on. I had it turned on the day before they were to start work and even sent the water company out to double check. They never contacted me about the situation, either directly or through the rental company. They said they were going to have all the work done over a weekend. That was delayed because they demanded full payment up front. I have never done that before and never will again. I tried to get them to take half up front and the other half when the work was completed. I see why they insisted on payment up front, because they never would have gotten the second half. Once the work started, I checked in with them through the rental company and was told there were no problems. My husband was in the vicinity of the rental property for business and stopped by to see the finished product. Only the wall repair and paint had been started. The house was filthy, with the original carpet that the renters had trashed, grease all over the kitchen, a pot pie left in the oven, trash on the floors, and trash left outside. I was irate and tried to reach anyone at the rental company office to see what was going on. None of my calls were returned and I ended up having to email the office. I received a reply saying that the work would be finished in a few days. The rental company wanted someone to do a walk through with them before they paid BowerTraust. The only person available to go was my father. There was no one at the office available to go with him, so he walked it alone. My father told me it looked okay but didn’t communicate with the rental company. They went ahead and paid BT anyway. During this time, my husband's job was transferred back to the region where the property is. We decided to move in to the house. Once we got here, I could not believe how horrible the house looked. Most of the walls had large patches where the old paint color showed through. There were splotches of paint all over the house. It was on the tile floors, the baseboards, the doorways, on the white kitchen cabinets, on the counters, and every fixture in the bathroom. It looked they finger-painted the glass in the light fixtures and the towel rack. They even got it on a ceiling fan. Where they didn't get paint was on the walls. There are large patches in the kitchen, master bedroom, and bathroom where the previous wall color shows through. And not in a you-have-to-get-close-to-see-it way, either. You can see the patches from across the rooms. They didn't finish repairing the walls and actually damaged one of them. The carpet had been installed, but it was done very poorly. There are random places in the carpet that crackle like there is trash under the pad. The edges weren't cut cleanly and there was carpet dust and pieces of carpet yarn everywhere. The carpet, at least, was clean because it was new. The rest of the "cleaning" was a joke. The kitchen and bathrooms were filthy and hadn't even been swept. It looked like someone had taken a cloth to the kitchen cabinets, but the tops were filthy. There was some yellow goo all over the counters, the stove, and the sink. There was paint residue, dirt, and a weird stain in the sink, too. The floors were dirty and had unidentifiable dried substances on them. They were so bad we had to steam clean them. There were dead insects and spiderwebs. The ceiling fans were disgusting, especially in the kitchen. The windows had nose prints from large pets and handprints from small children. T he bathroom was gross, too. The tub had black mold growing in it and all kinds of paint drips, unknown gunk, and even a sticker on it. The front ceiling had some kind of sticky, shiny stuff on it that looked like dried exploded soda and lots of spider webs. The smaller bedroom had glow-in-the-dark stars. BowerTraust told me later, after I complained, that the water was never on and they came out to clean twice. First, I went to great lengths to make sure the water was on. Second, they never communicated to me that they thought the water was off. The first I heard of it from them was when I was told that the work was done and the cleaning was subpar because there was no water. The outdoor trash removal wasn't great. There were years' worth of dried leaves and yard waste piled up around the house. There were toys stuck in the holes of the fence. I have picked up jewelry, candy wrappers, old rugs hidden under leaves, broken pieces of toys, and other random stuff. There is still broken glass everywhere. I contacted the rental company and they were less than helpful. They suggested I contact BowerTraust directly. I talked to Zack McKee. He was polite and agreed with my concerns, but kept stressing that the work was mostly completed. No, it wasn't. The paint wasn't finished, the cleaning wasn't finished or even halfway done, the trash wasn't removed, the walls weren't fully repaired, and a few of the minor repairs weren't done. They wanted to send their people back out to my house "to do the right thing." Well, it was a little too late for that. I don't ever want them back in any of my properties. Especially not to repaint. If they can't keep paint off of baseboards and the floor, they sure won't be able to keep it off of my belongings. They wanted to send the cleaning crew out to my house. At that point, it was too late for that, too. I and my husband had already cleaned most of the house for sanitary reasons. I wasn't about to eat in that kitchen. I definitely wasn't going to use that bathroom until I had it sanitized. I asked for $1000 dollars back, which is less than a third of what I paid. I didn't even ask for damages. I was offered $335. When I countered with $750, Zack said he wasn't going to haggle with me. I emailed him back about my concerns and that I didn't want to have to pay for the same work twice. He was adamant that my only two choices were to take the $335 dollars or let his crew come out. I even notified him that I planned to post reviews and got the same ultimatum. I took the $335 to at least offset some of the cost of fixing their mistakes. I don't recommend using their services, for anything. They will take your money and not do the work they said they will do. They will ignore your complaints and and treat you like it's your fault they messed up.
Description of Work: BowerTraust was hired by the company managing my rental property. The quotes came in and they were fair. Not great, but not raping my wallet, either. With the rental company acting as go-between, I had BowerTraust repair the walls in the house, paint them, make other minor repairs, replace the carpet, and do the final cleaning.
