About us
Matthews & Son Tile is a NC based tile company proudly serving the Triangle and it’s surrounding areas. I’m George Matthews, owner/operator of Matthews & Son Tile. I have over 17 years of experience working with designers, home owners, and businesses in creating beautiful tile and stone projects. Over the years I have seen the tile industry continue to improve in providing products better able to prevent water damage and resist mold growth as well as providing an ever growing variety of colors and design to choose from. A fantastic kitchen backdrop, a custom ceramic tile backsplash, or a wonderful bathroom tile installation is only one part of a much larger picture. Sure, we handle all sorts of construction-level installations, but what about a home remodel? You live in your home, we get to work in your home, and Matthews & Son Tile’s primary goal is to make sure our customers can’t tell we were there at the end of the day, aside from the new tile! Dirt, materials, tools – nowhere to be seen, and every item put carefully back in it’s place. Our forte is absolute customer satisfaction. We hire only the best, qualified, experienced installers. We will work closely with you on design and we enjoy the challenge that a remodel offers. Our experience allows us to foresee most every problem that may arise during the course of your project. This allows us to ensure our quoted price is our final price and the schedule will be met. We know tile and we know people who need tile. We’ll get you what you want, and do it in a timely manner. We always keep our promises.

I really can't wrap my head around how this happens. Maybe because I work in sales and marketing for a living and can't imagine not calling a potential customer back. I wasn't going to write a review but it seems like this person has done this before. Yet if he actually does the work he gets good feedback. So just be aware you might not ever hear back from them.
Also if you're a tile (or any other) vender PLEASE just be upfront with the homeowner. If you don't want to do the job (for whatever reason) then don't promise you'll send a quote only to not follow-up. It's time consuming to look-up, read reviews, reach out, schedule time and then be home to meet with you. It's not fun and I'm willing to bet there's far less competitive shopping going on than you might think.
I realize it's time consuming for you too - so feel free to ask as many questions as you like before scheduling the onsite meeting. Like Sq ft., whether or not there's existing tile, etc... You already know approx how much it's going to cost so if the job is too small (or whatever) then just say you're booked up or heck just be honest and say it's not a job you're interested in.
The owner came to our home and was professional, seemed nice (he spoke with my husband), said he'd get a quote to us within the week, and would also give us the name of another person that refurbished kitchen cabinets.
Well, it's now more than two weeks and we haven't heard a peep from this company. If the owner didn't want to take on the job (too small of a job, too busy, or whatever the reason), then he could have at the very least sent an email or called and said so. It's not fair to leave people hanging, especially when we said we wanted to start soon.
We did find someone else last week, but have to delay part of the renovation because the new person is booked for the next month. We just missed an opening with the new company because we were waiting for Matthews to get back to us. I'd rather hear a and quot; No, can't do itand quot; or and quot;I don't want to do itand quot; than be left in limbo.
He was very conscientious, laying down plastic over adjoining carpet and taking steps to limit dust.
Best of all, George actually does the work himself! He's on site in case you have questions or concerns. I'm tired of getting estimates from someone and they send others to perform the actual service. I did not have this problem with Matthews and Sons.
I would definitedly recommend Matthews and Sons for tile installation services!
