Dealing with Jenn Wilkes and WNC Rental Referral was a NIGHTMARE. The company was under contract to collect the rent from the tenant and keep 8% as the management fee, then pay us the remainder within a "reasonable period". She collected the rents promptly from the tenants but stopping paying us anything in August which was about half way through the lease. Up to that point she had paid us at random times during the month so it was difficult to keep track of which payment matched up to which month. In August all payments stopped and we did not notice this lack of funds until late September/ October, we were on vacation part of the time.. When we called the office person said there was mix up at the bank and we would have the money soon. But it never came and finally after 2 more weeks of waiting for over $ 3000 to be deposited I had to hire a lawyer. That cost me $100 for his time but he was able to get the last 2 month rental funds sent to us. The lease expired in November and they still did not paid August rent on time. Finally I had to file a complaint with the NC Real Estate Commission since the lawyer said he had done all that he could and it was probably a scam operation. The NC Real Estate Commission investigation is pending. But the truly strange thing is that Jenn at WNC Rental Referral never emailed me with any explanation of what was happening or why they were late. They never answered the phone (except for the office person but she had no knowledge of what is really going on and really could not answer any questions. All she said was " I will let Jenn know" I even left messages on Jenn ' s cell phone but got no call back or any response to numerous my emails. After all this effort I am still owed almost $ 2000 and it looks like we will have to go to small claims court to get last of what should have been paid months ago. (August rent not paid by Dec. !!! The tenants had a few minor problems that I took care of directly since WNC Rental Referral was difficult to get any response out of. There are many property management companies in Asheville but this has to be the worst to deal with. I would do yourself a favor and pick ANY other company to work with other than WNC Rental Referral. After the fact I tried to look them up on BBB but there is no listing.
Description of Work: We hired this property management company to manage our house in Asheville whiich was rented. We were living out of the city at the time and felt we needed a professional company to look after the property.
