irrigation systems

Not only did it take three weeks to ?complete? the job, but in the process he cut our water line by mistake (leaving us without water for several hours). In addition he installed a used and rusty piece of equipment which would have gone unnoticed without the city inspector pointing it out to us. However, since these issues appeared to be resolved, we paid the balance on 2/16/12, for a grand total of $5,411. Within a few days, deep grooves appeared in our yard where he had laid the pipes. In addition, several of the sprinkler heads sank below ground level. These problems were caused by his failure to properly replace the soil after the irrigation pipes were laid. When our regular landscaper (Tony Kinch of All Seasons Tree & Landscaping) came to repair the damage, he discovered piles of tree root debris that Mr. Reilly had buried under soil instead of removing from the property. He also pointed out several trees that had dirt shoveled up around them to such an extent that it would have killed the trees unless it was removed. It took a crew of 5 men working all day to repair the damage created in our yard at a cost of $750. The landscapers also discovered that the electrical box for the irrigation system?s control panel (which should have been buried underground with only the top side appearing at the surface) was just lying in ivy under bushes next to the house. When our plumber (David A. Stewart) came to connect the system to the city water line, he pointed out that the back flow valves should have never been placed on the right of way in front of our house, but should be inside our fenced in yard. He had to remove the valve and cap off the pipes (at a cost of $109.80). In the spring he will need to reconnect the irrigation system at a cost yet unknown to us. Therefore, nothing about the job was performed correctly.
Description of Work: Mr. Reilly was hired to install an irrigation system at my home and place of business (a bed and breakfast). He commenced work on 2/2/2012, after providing a written estimate from T. Reilly Landscaping. The property is approximately 1/2 acre in size.
