My house is built on the side of a mountain. The deck and sunroom at the rear of my house are 50 feet above the foundation level. Deck and sunroom were supported by three 10 foot high hollow unreinforced cinder block 16"x16" piers and 6"x6" wood columns 8 feet apart. The piers were tilting and tops had moved about 6 inches relative to the base. Very dangerous. Area completely inaccessible to equipment.
Rex Lively, owner of Target, was actively involved on site all during the repair process. They built a steel rebar reinforced 2.5 ft x 20 ft grade beam which enclosed the existing pier foundations and was supported at the same level as the existing piers. Then they built new steel reinforced concrete piers that encased the existing piers. The new piers were installed vertically and were 28"x28" square and 10 feet high.
Very pleased with end result. Finally feel safe on the deck and in the sunroom.
Total project took 4 days and required 4 laborers.
