A second problem is a thick dust output from the room vents in all rooms. A similar problem occurred in 2007. I paid for a LENNOX and quot;Healthy Climate 16 (HC 16) Media Air Cleanerand quot; ($550). At that time it was the best buy filter system available, as reported by and quot;Consumer Reportsand quot;. Smoky Mtn installed the HC 16 at that time. It came with a 5-year warranty.
in late 2013, the heavy dust problem reccured. This time, Gentry* demonstrated pollen in the output vents and I observed maple seeds flying in the vents to the rooms. Any one of the input filters prior to the furnace should have removed particles of that size. I wasted some time trying to get someone to analyze the dust content -- but then realized that the HC16 system had outlived its warranty, and that the problem was the HC16 or its installation in 2007. This could be a problem in that the maintenance technician who installed the HC16 for Smoky Mountain in 2007 had passed away and the warranty had expired. I have yet to inform Smoky Mtn of my latest troubleshooting. I must do all of this in my head because I am 75 and cannot get around in the attic with my lack of balance. I can pay another $550 for another MC 16 -- but have no way of seeing that it was installed properly, in 2007or at this time. I have not spoken with Smoky since receiving their letter of 7 June, which suggested that I solve my dust problem, along with my rust problem. And that I pay for it.

June 10 update:
I have informed 'Smoky of my response to their offers a week ago. Smoky says that they are not qualified to do the work, but I say I have a maintenance contract with them for my furnace and A/C; They have been helpful so far . -- but not with their two responses on the present problems. They solved a similar dust problem on my/their maintenance contract in 2007. The warranty period for that work is over. I am only suggesting that they repeat that work, at my cost. And they are refusing to do it.
The first claim on the rust problem is one that they should have done because the cause of it was their fault. During their maintenances they had not noticed the stuffed-up duct for the A/C coolant disposal in the attic. The rust from that stoppage is easy to see outside over the A/C pipe. Since that area of the furnace/A-C system must be checked every 6 months, they're saying their technicians beneath that stain had failed to look up and notice the 100 square-foot stain area on the vinyl of the rear of the house. That is impossible..
