I was charged $802.00 for the replacement of the valve but valve was not the issue. And I was charged $134 for an initial diagnostic that was incorrect. They then identified the issue as being something completely different then the valve and again wanted to charge me again $134 for a second diagnosis and $267 to replace a part that has one screw. It was covered under warranty so was free and took less then five minutes to replace. After paying them almost a thousand dollars the issue was not fixed and they wanted to keep charging for more parts so I had another company come out to look at it. Sheer Comfort found the issue in ten minutes. A loose wire. I was charged almost a thousand dollars for a loose wire.

They give me a summary of what they did. They were very clean, could not even tell they had been here. I am very satisfied with them.

I have been using them for years. They came out to me a few weeks ago, and would continue to use them in the future.

This company has no remorse and is not accepting any responsibility for the damages they caused. I never smelled anything burning until after they worked on the unit. I have been without heat since January 31, 2017. I have to depend on Amish heaters to heat my home. I'm not sure why I was treated this way, I can assume it's because of my gender or race! We paid $134 on January 12, 2017 but now it going to cost an astronomical amount to replace the entire unit. I have had 3- different companies give me estimates with their findings of the damages caused by Smoky Mountain Heating & Air.

The workers were polite and punctual but the unit never was repaired. The needed repair was going to be very costly and we had already spent several hundred dollars on previous visits. We opted for a different route.

Smoky Mountain has suggested that I pay for the rust clean-up.

A second problem is a thick dust output from the room vents in all rooms. A similar problem occurred in 2007. I paid for a LENNOX and quot;Healthy Climate 16 (HC 16) Media Air Cleanerand quot; ($550). At that time it was the best buy filter system available, as reported by and quot;Consumer Reportsand quot;. Smoky Mtn installed the HC 16 at that time. It came with a 5-year warranty.
in late 2013, the heavy dust problem reccured. This time, Gentry* demonstrated pollen in the output vents and I observed maple seeds flying in the vents to the rooms. Any one of the input filters prior to the furnace should have removed particles of that size. I wasted some time trying to get someone to analyze the dust content -- but then realized that the HC16 system had outlived its warranty, and that the problem was the HC16 or its installation in 2007. This could be a problem in that the maintenance technician who installed the HC16 for Smoky Mountain in 2007 had passed away and the warranty had expired. I have yet to inform Smoky Mtn of my latest troubleshooting. I must do all of this in my head because I am 75 and cannot get around in the attic with my lack of balance. I can pay another $550 for another MC 16 -- but have no way of seeing that it was installed properly, in 2007or at this time. I have not spoken with Smoky since receiving their letter of 7 June, which suggested that I solve my dust problem, along with my rust problem. And that I pay for it.

*see evaluation of Gentry submitted, 8 June

June 10 update:
I have informed 'Smoky of my response to their offers a week ago. Smoky says that they are not qualified to do the work, but I say I have a maintenance contract with them for my furnace and A/C; They have been helpful so far . -- but not with their two responses on the present problems. They solved a similar dust problem on my/their maintenance contract in 2007. The warranty period for that work is over. I am only suggesting that they repeat that work, at my cost. And they are refusing to do it.

The first claim on the rust problem is one that they should have done because the cause of it was their fault. During their maintenances they had not noticed the stuffed-up duct for the A/C coolant disposal in the attic. The rust from that stoppage is easy to see outside over the A/C pipe. Since that area of the furnace/A-C system must be checked every 6 months, they're saying their technicians beneath that stain had failed to look up and notice the 100 square-foot stain area on the vinyl of the rear of the house. That is impossible..

After calling every HVAC company, local furnace repair as well as the manufacturer rep to no avail for the past 2 months, I finally found this company on Angie's List. No one would touch my Harman system as it burns coal, wood or oil. I could find no one to come inspect the inefficient output. We have been limping along and burning down all my acreage to heat the home. Finally started using oil and the system failed after about a week. This company said they could service the unit AND could be there in 2 hours. We were shocked. Matt and Alex showed up earlier than projected and spent 1.5 hours showing us all about this system. They showed us clogged filters that the prior owner never changed, demonstrated that we had excessive water in our system, tested the oil/air mix, replaced the capacitor and made further recommendations to finish the tune-up when the system has been cold for several days. While I am out of their service area and there was a $75 trip fee, it was my only option. I am just feeling fortunate that they would even come try, not to mention I feel they did a very professional and thorough evaluation of my system.

excellent! they ( matt and his helper) arrived 20 minutes early. performed a thorough evaluation. found no real problems. did not try to sell me services or products i did not need. charged me the quoted price. they recorded the needed information in the event that i developed a problem with the fan timing control, so that if they had to return, they would have the appropriate parts on hand.
