Smart Way Home Improvement

I had a lot troubles with this deal. A man did come out to take a look at the work, but he never came back or called. They were not responsive and did not return my phone calls.  I had tried to reach them two to three times and it did not work out well. I ended up cancelling the deal and having it refunded.

I bought a deal on angie's list for four hours worth of work.  I asked if he could install 3 slab interior doors.  I had a hard time getting a date for Ron to come out and do the work.  I had to call several times and finally I got a date.  He then called the week of and told me he needed to reschedule- I told him I needed the work done that week or he could just refund me if he couldn't do it.  He decided to come as planned and showed up on time.  It seemed to take a lot longer than it should have- 5 hours to hang 3 doors.  I think he was in a hurry on the second and third doors because instead of chipping out a spot for the hinge in the doors he just cut twice as deep into the door frame.  The first door looks all right but the other two were clearly not installed properly.  They also squeak when they shut because the door is rubbing up against the frame.  I'm going to have to do some sanding to get them to shut quietly. 

I want out of this service.  It is impossible to get information out of this company.  All I heard ws the estimates he had to make and the big job his crew was on!  This was no help to me.  I do not want to have any more contact with this company, EVER!!!  Not good

Mr. Smart showed up on time and performed the work as agreed.  He was very professional and knowledgeable about the work performed. He had to remove the old sliding glass door and replace it with an updated sliding glass door.  I would definitely hire him again for any type of home improvements.

I first got Ron's name from Angie's List. That was several home improvement jobs ago. I wll not let anyone else do any work around the house again. This guy is terrific and now I am proud to call him a friend.

He was late and unapologetic about being late. The quote was much higher compared to other estimates I received. I went with another person who did an extremely professional and thorough job for much less.

When we started looking for fence builders, the process was very frustrating. There weren't really websites to reference with portfolios, Yelp returned very little help on fencing companies in Asheville, and just attempting to Google "fence builders" and driving to businesses sent us to dead-ends. Literally. Once fence company was said to be located down an empty street. We drove there, and found nothing. The search continued. We went to Angie's List and sorted the fencers by rating and Ron Smart was one of the top results. We emailed him and the other 2-3 at the top. Ron was the only one to respond. He came out and talked through with us what we wanted in detail, gave us a quote for free, and then started the work! He worked for several days over a period of 2-3 weeks, and when he was done, he had built a beautiful fence that was what we thought was *exactly* what we wanted. Only a month later, two of the main foundational stakes began to warp badly. Probably because the wood was not properly treated. We understand this happens, so we contacted Ron to come out and check out the problem. He ignored our first email. A week or so later, I sent a second, clarifying what I thought the issue was, and sent additional details. Again, the email was completely ignored. I waited another week and sent a third, final email, pleading him to stand by his work and make it right. After all, we spent a lot of money on this fence, and didn't expect to have it warping so quickly like this. And, again, ignored. Nothing. So I had to bring in another contractor to come out and replace the warping boards. This contractor also commented that the way the hinges on the gate were installed were not installed properly for the weight of the gate that was put on the fence. He's going to have to replace the hinges as well. Really a very frustrating experience. Ron seemed like a stand-up kind of guy who would be behind his work and would do whatever it takes to ensure the customer is satisfied. Especially after spending thousands of dollars. But no, he took the money and didn't come back to deal with the problems. The fact that I have another contractor out to fix his work says it all. He might do good work in other areas, but he must not be a fencer. To Ron, stay in touch with your customers. Talk to them. BE RESPONSIVE. WRITE THEM BACK when they write you with a concern. Don't just ignore them. That's rude, unprofessional, and you get reviews like this one. Lesson learned. This is the second job Ron has done for us. We were so happy with his work remodeling our bathroom that we hired him again to do the closet and flooring. This guy is the best. He comes when he says he will be there and if he will be late he calls and lets you know. How many people you know care about your time as much as theirs? He cares about the quality of his work, and will keep working until he gets it right. We will be using Ron again in the future.

He showed up as stated and did the work -- no problems.

He did an excellent job! He was quite friendly and worked efficiently. He took his time to listen to my concerns and completed all projects to my specifications.

We could not be any more satisfied with Ron's work. He did a fantastic job. He is very prompt and will keep you informed if he is running late. He is meticulous and will not stop until the job is done right. We will be using this company in the future, and would recommend them to anyone looking to do this type of remodeling.

Our experience was mostly really good. We told him that we had other projects in mind and he said that he would come up with some ideas, and he has never called us back. Other than that, his work was fine. He was really late one day.

Excellent! He stayed in communication with us throughout the whole process, asked questions when necessary to make sure he knew what we wanted, worked within the time constraints we agreed on, was flexible when we needed additional work done. Overall a great experience.

He did a good job. He showed up when he said he was going to and he made sure to stay in contact with us throughout the job. He gave us an estimate, which was pretty accurate in the end.

Ron always comes to give estimates. He does great work. I have had things done to my house by other carpenters and Ron by far does superior work. He is honest and my bulldog Daisy loves him. He is the first person I call when I want to change things on my house.
