They charged $24. I think their prices are good. We took a dog in and we put him down but they didn't determine what was wrong until they did an autopsy. I think they could have found it before he died.

We've been going to Redwood for over 30 years during which time we've lived in Black Mountain, Broad River, Weaverville and Candler. Never considered changing vets even though there were many others closer. We like Dr. Elledge and Dr. Reason very much and appreciate their philosophy on medical treatment for pets. They do not believe in over-vaccinating so consider the age of the pet and how many times they've been vaccinated before vaccinating again (except for rabies). They don't sugar-coat things. If you have a serious problem they explain it, give their recommendations and you make a decision. They have never suggested doing anything that wasn't absolutely necessary so we know they aren't "in it for the money" as many places seem to be. The last time we were there was for a distemper-combo shot for one of our cats. We appreciated that they did not insist on an exam even though she hadn't been seen in two years. We highly recommend this veterinary practice.

She has to go about every six weeks. There are two vets there. One of them is Keith Reason and the other one is Doug Elledge. The medication prevents the itching for about six weeks at a time. It's an autoimmune disorder. The body attacks itself and so the steroid keeps the immune system calmed down for a while. They're not in it for the money. They're in it because they love animals. You can't say that about other vets in this area. If there is a cheaper alternative for a treatment or something they will tell you about it. My 13 year old cat tore her knee up. They call it the ACL ligament. He says, "Well, there are two surgical options. But if it was my cat at this age, I wouldn't do any of them because she can live with it." So he recommended actually against doing either one. He didn't have to do that. He said one option was to put a stitch in to hold the joint together and the other one was a complete joint surgery like they do on humans which would be expensive. So he gave me three different options and recommended the one where he wouldn't make a dime actually. They were recommended by other people.

Worked through various allergy symptoms until we sorted out what the problem was and put the dog on a limited-ingredient diet with a novel protein. No problems for a year now. Very sensible approach with no testing that has limited probability of good prediction.

I have been using them for seventeen years now. They are compassionate and caring we are almost on first name bases. They provide a high quality of care with reasonable prices. I am very satisfied with the care and service that they have provided for my pets over the years and I will continue to use them again in the future.

They were okay but the only problem I had with them was that they were not opened on Saturdays and Sundays. If I have a pet emergency then I have to take them to a different veterinarian.

Have used Redwood for years, always helpful, friendly and honest. They have squeezed us in for emergencies and have been thoughtful and caring when we had to put pets down.
