1998 Subaru Legacy, 177,804 miles, one owner. Initially, failed state inspection with air leak somewhere in fuel line system. Had additional detailed testing done and found that the fuel filler neck of the gas tank had rusted through and developed a pin size hole in the rusted metal. Went on-line to find similar occurrences. Unfortunately, is VERY common for my make and model year. Fault is actually a factory defect in the engineering of the fuel filler area not designed for proper drainage of water splashed up under the wheel-well. Obviously, could not get parts from a junkyard as would have exact same problem further down the line. And, install cost would be the same. YouTube videos showed the amount of work required- MAJOR diss-assembly of wheel-well and dropping of gas tank required to get at the rusted out filler neck. Various YouTube videos showed a verity of non-professional/ less costly fixes. Although no more air leak were detectable, most/ all of these fixes would not pass NC state inspections afterward. Intend to keep the car until about 300,000 so only about half way to expected end of life for this car for me. Authorized repairs: Filler Neck Valve $80.13, Filler Neck Assembly $175.00. Labor $251.19 for a total with hazmat fee and tax of $549.50. Was given the rusted out filler neck. Mine looked far worse than ones I'd seen on the YouTube videos. Only a brief glance was necessary to see major rusting out had caused substantial metal fatigue for a critical gas tank support component.
Description of Work: Replaced fuel filler neck of the gas tank.

Went really well.
Description of Work: My transmission in my minivan was stuck in 2nd gear. I went to one place and they told me I needed a new transmission to the tune of 2,600.00. I went to this exxon just to get a second opinion. They are not the cheapest place in town, but they saved me a bundle. Turns out the problem was a fuse in the module that controls the transmission. Runs perfectly. They did this once before. Two places said I needed a new tranny. It was the speed sensor and I fixed it for 63 bucks. Be careful out there, lots of crooks in the auto repair world.

The night after the repair the brand new part failed. The next day they towed my car, fixed it again and returned the car to me. No hassle, no problem.

It was quick and cheap.
Description of Work: I took my car to be inspected for the first time in North Carolina. They were proffesional and friendly. They found a screw in my tire and plugged it for $15. I appreciated that they didn't try to sell me a new tire. They even told me which DMV offices I needed to visit to get my car registered in NC. I will definitely go back.

Went great. Called day before, got worked in, and was there less than an hour.
Description of Work: New battery and replacement of serpentine belt. Belt had been put on in 2007, went bad, warranted and replaced with just labor cost. Can't complain. Also told me that my front brakes would need replacing soon which was discovered during courtesy check.

It was a perfect job. I would recommend people to take their cars there and I have done that. Their primary focus is on mechanics even though it's a gas station. They have 4 to 6 trained mechanics and it seems like they work there and they are always busy. They also have a very good body shop that I have used and that's in a different place and I don't have the information on that. The price has always been reasonable for me.
Description of Work: I used the services of North Asheville Exxon two weeks ago. I had oil change and something else done.

We dropped our vehicle off without an appointment on a Monday morning and spoke to the manager. Great guy, very friendly. Told him that we needed a vehicle inspection to renew our registration, and he told us that they could service the request in less than 30 minutes. There were a significant amount of vehicles there before us that had been dropped off, with appointments...and he took ours in, in front of theirs. What a great business this is! Very honest and trustworthy, we will have our next service done here.

They inspected car and immediately found a cracked radiator. They were able to get a new one and install it in only a few hours. They were prompt and professional. N AVL Exxon has also done other service work for us as well as auto inspections. High quality at a fair price.
