Using Greg was the best decision my wife and I made while we were searching for a home. As any Asheville home buyer will tell you, the market is insane. Homes that are on the market almost always have serious defects, or they’re priced 100k+ over pre-pandemic levels. Greg can’t make it easier to find a home, but, once you find a home you think you like, his expertise will make you feel confident in your decision. He has encyclopedic knowledge of all rules and regulations required by North Carolina, but is also aware of various small repairs that pay dividends. For example, diligently painting your door jams is an easy way to prevent rot (unfortunately, neither of the homes we had inspected followed this tip). We’ve had multiple friends, family members, and contractors comment on how incredibly detailed Greg’s inspections have been. We had two inspections done by him, with our last inspection totalling seventy-three (73!) pages, complete with numerous pictures and videos. To put that into context, my sister-in-law’s inspection (not done by Greg) was only 24 pages, despite her home being older with at least as many problems. Aside from his comprehensive inspections, Greg is a genuinely pleasant person to talk to. My wife and I called him several times during our home-buying journey (Greg -- if you are reading this -- we’re sorry for the constant calls), and he always took time to explain any questions we could think of. We could tell he genuinely cared about helping us find a safe home. Needless to say, my wife and I highly recommend using Greg.

Greg was at the home before I got there, and went right to work. His inspection was detailed, thorough, and he took the time to explain many of the things he noticed along the way. I was buying this home on my own for the first time, and I was concerned that I was missing "the big one" that would turn the home into the money pit. Greg was wonderful, very thorough and explained all the things he found wrong on the walkthrough when he was finished inspecting. He looked at the roof of the townhouse all the way down to the crawlspace underneath and everything between, inside and outside. He wrote up a great report that was very easy to go back through and pick the things we wanted to request repairs on. He even came out and did a re-inspection after the sellers made the repairs. He spent 2 hours on the reinspection with us and made sure we checked everything. We highly recommend him, and from hearing stories from others who had inspections done by someone else, he was definitely more thorough than some other inspectors. He also did the radon test for us.

Greg was very professional, kind, and informative. He gave us a thorough report and worked his way into some tight spots in the old crawlspace to get a look at as many components of the house as possible.

Greg first came out and gave us an estimate and told us what exactly he was going to do.  On the appointment day, he arrived on time and worked very diligently to get the job done.  He did not accept our payment until the test was completed that proved the radon  had been reduced to an acceptable level.

Greg arrived even before the scheduled time and was already looking at the roof and around the house. Before the work he explained in detail what was going to happen and what I should expect. The inspections lasted a little more than 3 hours and afterwards he sat down with me and went through the inspection in detail in his laptop, answering all my many questions. He probably spend almost 2 hours doing the review with me. He is very professional, extremely knowledgeable and honest. I am very glad I decided to do the inspection with him.

Greg Peterson did an amazing job. He provided a thorough proposal with a reasonable estimate for his work. I felt comfortable immediately and requested that he do the work. He arrived on time, explained the work he was doing, and left the work area neat on completion. He explained what he expected from his work, and the results reflected that. He was extremely professional. I feel confident that my radon issues are no longer a problem. He also does home inspections and I only wish I had had him do our inspection when we purchased the house. We are considering having him come back and doing an inspection of our house so that we can feel confident that we know our house well. I feel lucky to have found this professional.

Greg Peterson is an excellent home inspector. He spends the time to look at issues and decide which are simply cosmetic verses issues that can pose a problem. He is very skilled and understands how items are repaired and makes suggestions of how the repairs can be accomplished. He looked at our windows and doors in detail and was able to see mechanical verses cosmetic issues in their function and offered solutions for repair. He created a detailed report that we could share with our builder. .He is on time and has a state of the art reporting mechanism where we could access our information electronically and send it to other individuals we needed to include.

Greg was on time and put the machine in my basement on Friday and came back for it on Monday. He told me what I had to do to get rid of the radon.

It went just as he said it would go.  He showed up on time and on the day he said he would be there.  He re-located the fan, corrected the piping system, painted the area of the house where the pipe had to be moved, painted the pipe so it wouldn't show...he was AMAZING! 
I highly recommend Greg and would call him again should I need this type of service.

The radon system had stopped working. Greg checked the entire system and the electrical connections. The problem was a burned out fan, and Greg had the replacement part in his truck, so he went ahead and installed that. He then checked to make sure the system was running correctly, and started the radon test, which ran two days. I was able to get the results immediately. They provided a five year warranty for the work and the fan, also.

Working with Greg from the initial phone call though the delivery of our 125 page detailed inspection report was professional, pleasant and punctual. The 4+ hours he spent onsite and resulting findings several days later provided us with a comfort level that we were well informed of the state of the property being purchased. We would highly recommend Greg to future clients.

Greg was available to inspect the house within 3 business days of me contacting him.  He traveled approximately 50 minutes outside of Asheville to inspect the home I purchased.  (There was a small distance surcharge.)    Greg documented a number of problems within the house that I had not seen and would not have been aware of.  I presented the summary of his report to the Seller's agent.   The seller agreed to fix the more significant problems.  Greg documented mold problems in the crawlspace, floor, and attic.  He also noted a number of hazardous electrical and plumbing issues.
I had considered not having a home inspection performed because the home is an older one and I anticipated there would be some minor problems with it.  Also, the seller had already disclosed a number of issues that I was willing to accept.   If I had not had an inspection performed, I would have had to cover those items out of pocket after the sale.  The inspection saved me thousands of dollars in immediate repair/maintenance costs.    Two rules for purchasing in the Western NC area:  1. NEVER neglect the home inspection - even if nothing is found, the peace of mind is worth it.  2. Use Greg at Meridian.

Greg and his partner arrived exactly when scheduled and proceeded to due an excellent and difficult job. Our Radon levels were 22 prior to the mitigation and 1.1 afterwards. Greg was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had given that we were corresponding with him originally from Florida in regards to a North Carolina property. It was important to us that Greg was certified in radon mitigation. The work area was left in excellent condition. We would highly recommend this company.

Greg was very knowledgeable and professional. He described various options and contingencies in a clear manner, showed up promptly when he said he would, efficiently installed the system we chose based on his recommendations, and cleaned up after himself. The system is very quiet and initial testing shows it is working effectively. We highly recommend Greg.

I had a tight time frame and Greg did his best to accomodate me in his busy schedule. In fact, he delivered the final report several days ahead of the agreed upon date. The report was extensive, complete and very professional.

Greg was great.
He provided good information when he came out the first time. I was provided the different options for my house including the possible problems that can be encountered.
The area was in a snow storm the day he was supposed to come work, and he notified me in advance that it was unlikely he would be able to make our appointment. He came in anyway after the roads turned out to not be as bad as predicted.
During the install we discussed potential paths for routing the exhaust pipe, and his assistant provided the best idea which we ended up going with. I was very happy with the engagement on the issue which would have an effect on my use of the garage.
Overall I was very pleased. He was professional the entire time and I would easily recommend him to anyone.
