Mc Clain Construction

The deck that McClain built (reviewed below) has some fascia pieces that warped but are guaranteed. We have tried to get McClain to replace them for over a year with no luck. At first he claimed that the regional rep had to come by and see the problem, but that was a year ago and still no response. I have now raised the problem to the manufacturer since Billy seems no longer to answer emails and phone messages cannot be left due to a full message box.
This behavior is very odd since in the interim I did manage to reach Billy to get a referral  to a roofer to diagnose and fix a leak. Billy and the roofer came by and fixed the problem and I had to insist on paying them even though they had not caused the problem. Meanwhile I got in touch with another previous customer who said they have given up trying to get Billy to follow through on a problem.
As I noted above, I am beginning to wonder if some major personal or family problem hasn't caused Billy to close the business. I certainly hope not. And if McClain resolves my problem, I will come back to Angies List and update this review.

We are quite happy with what McClain Construction did for us. They showed up when they said they were going to show up and they charged a reasonable price and got the job done.

Billy showed up late with an excuse that didn't sound true. He and his crew did the work but never cleaned up after themselves. A few month later we realized that the work wasn't done right and had to be redone by someone else. Additionally we had to have another professional come behind McClain and cleanup the work that McClain was supposed to have done. Numerous times I tried to call him. never did he answer his phone and his voicemail was always full. Text messages were not returned. In short, I couldn't get a hold of him when the problems arose.I will NEVER use him again even if he were the only contractor in town.

He was very good, very responsible, he did the job well, we have no concerns, and we're glad we used him.  I can't remember what the price was, but, we liked it. 

The price was reasonable.  He did excellent work.

From the first meeting, to describe the job and get an estimate, Billy was the ideal contractor/builder: he and his crew are friendly, polite, conscientious, timely and careful about their work.  I have nothing but good things to say about the experience and about Billy himself.

Went well with excellent result. There was some preventable damage to existing front door which McClain repaired. There was some learning with respect to using CorrectDeck and rail system. Billy McClain uses excellent carpenters, the lead being Bryan Payne who is good about thinking through problems. The men are all friendly. They clean up the area after the job is done.

We needed to have some exterior repairs on our building. Mr. McClain helped us. We had water coming through the cracks in the brick work. The job took him a few days. He had to rent some equipment to do the work. It was a very positive experience for us. Mr. McClain is professional. He shows up. He looks for cost effective solutions. He is very easy to reach and communicate with if you have questions.

The job turned out extremely well. He went out of his way to obtain good deals on materials, at one point driving to Atlanta for some. Billy is friendly and easy to work with. Worked well with architect. He cares a great deal about the details of the work and enjoys a challenge of which we provided several. Cleaned up after the job. He employs very capable carpenters who know how to think through problems. The job ended up taking longer than expected, but I don't know enough if the extended schedule was out of the norm for this type of work. We intend to use McClain again on two more projects.
