On 7/4/15 I "purchased" a King size Simmons Black Ava King Plush bed from Mattress Man in Asheville, NC for $1750 including delivery, remove old bed, mattress, box springs, frames, etc. On 7/18 the owner, Charles Emerick (?)(Chuck), called me to say that the bed I had purchased had been delayed by the "factory" due to overwhelming demand from the July 4th weekend. He told me the factory in Charlotte had suffered two machine (primary and secondary) failures, necessitating emergency shipment of equipment from out of state in order to fulfill orders, and that my bed would not be delivered until 8/3/15. In lieu of these circumstances, he said because he and his wife bought into this franchise not to have to deal with this kind of situation and would be happy to discount my order another $200. I took it upon myself to call the factory in Charlotte just to make sure the information I got was indeed correct. The Charlotte "factory" told me they had not had any such type occurrence and that I should call the home office in Atlanta. When I did so they also told me there had been NO such outages or shortfalls in any of their production facilities whatsoever. I asked if I could pass along this info to the Simmons rep for franchises and the gentleman in the Atlanta office of Simmons said yes. "Charles" called me again to say that he would assure me that my bed was going to be delivered on said date. I have recorded and saved all his conversations for record. When I called on 7/30/15 to affirm my delivery he said he was not going to sell to me. Now I am amazed at what has transpired! I ordered a bed, he could not deliver on time via a lie, now he will not sell to me at all??? This man and his entire franchise has not been truthful since the beginning. I would not and do not recommend Mattress Man to anyone whatsoever. Mr. "Charles" is deceitful, a liar, and cannot live up to his promises, even the false ones.

Description of Work: Purchased a king size mattress set. It was a pleasure dealing with Ron. He is not pushy. Unlike other stores, his price was good for today, tomorrow or for the month, whereas other stores which would only guarantee their price for a purchase at the time. He had the mattress in stock and we arranged for delivery the following day. Fifteen minutes after we left, Ron called me to inform me that while he had the mattress, he did not have the associated box spring set. I was given the option of a) canceling the order, b) wait a week for the box springs to arrive, or c) have it delivered the following day with different box springs. We chose to wait a week. They called the night before delivery to tell me that delivery would be between 10 & 11 the following morning. They arrived at 10:05. Have not yet slept on the mattress so I cannot comment as to quality, but everything else was stellar. It's always a plus to buy local, especially when the price and service are top notch. Thank you Ron.

Great. After using a mattress purchased here for a couple of months, I found that I had chosen one that did not have enough support for my needs. Mattress Man lived up the 12 month return guarantee and my new mattress will be delivered next week.

I was/am having back problems and decided to get rid of my 15 yr old mattress. I went in on 05/22/2013 to the Arden Airport Road store and Chuck showed me what was available. He did try and get me to buy that day but I really wanted to look around and make sure that I found what I wanted because after all a mattress is a big investment. I went back the next day and Chuck was off but Devin helped me and he was very courteous and helpful. They deilevered the mattress when they said they would and took off my old mattress. I do like my new mattress and it is easier on my back.

We tried just about every bed in the place within our price range. My wife has had back pain for years and we were getting desperate. Devin, the salesman, was patient and not pushy at all. He even tolerated our 2 yr old's antics. We found one we both liked but we in some disagreement concerning an adjustable frame. Devin was patient with that as well and worked up several options more than once. Finally, we decided on a single king mattress and no frame since my brother in law donated one to us the week prior. We got the mattress, L&P mattress cover, and delivery for a discounted price. When they delivered it, the brother in law frame turned out to NOT be a king and the delivery guys told us we could get a floor model from the store for half price, which we did. My wife has not had back pain since!

I received the most deplorable customer service from the Mattress Man, and in particular the owner at the Mattress Man.I ordered a mattress and box spring during their Labor Day "free box spring" promotion. When the mattress was delivered to my house, we discovered that the box spring could not fit up my narrow staircase. I recognize that this IS NOT the fault of the Mattress Man. What followed, was. When I called, I was told I would have to pay an additional hundred dollars for the split box spring and wait another week. After a week, I received a phone call saying the warehouse had shipped only half of the box spring, and that the Mattress Man was in no way responsible. I asked for a phone number of someone in the warehouse. The owner, Keith told me there was no recourse, I would have to wait another week. In the meantime, there would be no replacement bed provided for my inconvenience, no refund (either full or partial) and if I didn't like the way I was being treated, that was too bad because Keith was the owner and Simmons is a big company and I just have to put up with it. Furthermore, because I had already paid, the Mattress Man was not obligated to help me in any way.I thought I would shop at a local chain to receive better customer service. I have been absolutely appalled by the treatment I have received-had the phone slammed down on me, been told that Keith, as the owner, has every right to treat me any way he wants, and been denied both the box spring that I ordered and I refund.Don't go to the Mattress Man, I'm certain you could get a cheaper price elsewhere, and if not, I'd pay more money to be treated with kindness and understanding any day.
